*******C.A.R.S - Community Assisted Race Sim*********

Just been playing this with my G27 today, feels spot on and looks stunning!

Only issue i have is the Career mode crashes out on Karts with an "unhandled exception" no matter if its during a race or afterward on the scoreboard.

Weirdly enough online and solo races are unaffected so i don't mind too much.

does anyone know what this is and why it remains on my screen the whole time? It's almost like a lens glare type thing, but it seems to get burned on the frame and doesn't move. It seems to happen from moving the camera towards the sun, then the sun spots get stuck on the frame.

turns out it was MSAA that was causing it...fancy that. Changed to DSx2 and it works perfect, and still hold 60fps on full grid so really happy. I only chose MSAA in the first place because I thought DSx2/DSx4 would tank my frames at 1440p. Happy boy now, just wish I could control these karts now with a controller, it feels horrible lol.

Just bought this on a punt really as I have AC and really like it. I kept an eye on the development of PCars and really didn't think it would be any good.

Happy to say I was wrong - this is a lot of fun!

Right guys, Firing up a clio cup server on Project cars tonight in at 9pm. Server will be called "Tea & Biscuits".

Invite some friends and lets get some racing going.

What do folks think about doing a 2.4h* Le Mans race, with 10x time and random weather so we get a shortened 24hr experience?? (* assuming 2.4h timed is possible, we could figure out an alternative if need be though)

I remember when GT5 first came out on PS3 and they had a full 24h race (no save, just pause! took me a little over 3 days!) with day-night transition & weather. The first time things start getting dark, and gradually different parts of the track start switching lights on, its just jawdrapping.
With pCARS having both time & weather simulated better, and Le Mans coming up, i thought it might make for an interesting & fun community event.

If we use a mix of LMP & GT3 cars (if theres others of a suitable match, i dont see a problem) that should give a nice variety. I havent tried the LMP cars in about a year, and wasnt too keen, but the GT3's are quick enough, user friendly, and wouldnt look out of place like a single seater would.

If theres sufficient interest, then i think it'd be cool to do. If its just 4-5ppl it might be a bit bland and while theres always AI... im not sure i'd want to be in a slower class with an AI LMP1 behind me :D

Thoughts??

You can't get people to turn up to do 12 laps of Silverstone National in the Clio. There have been two race nights arranged in this thread and only 2 people showed on each night.

The other problem is keeping drivers interested for a 2+ hour race, you'd need a lot of people in the game so that all levels of talent have someone to race. You've only got to look at public server races to see you can loose half the field to disconnects in the first lap.

But having said that, if there is enough interest, you can count me in.

Yeah, i realise its probably an uphill battle, but im hoping that may if people are made aware of it and are interested, then hopefully theres a better chance of getting some numbers together.

Personally, i know i'll be going in with the default setup to a car, and i'll probably spend about 10min familiarising myself with the layout (the braking points etc really), and thats it. Im hoping that, beyond making sure people know the layout well enough to be able to be able to race, that people will treat it as more of a fun event, rather than taking a competitive view and realising they're not the fastest and giving up.
Likewise, I'm hoping that the novelty of the 10x time and dealing with the changing conditions means that people simply enjoy it for that, and stick with it to experience it, compared to doing say 1h around Silverstone in perfect conditions and every lap being repetitive.

I'd be very surprised if there isnt something similar being organised on the WMD forums, so perhaps if its not looking so good, we could look further afield, but then i'd rather have 10 OCUK people and 10 AI in a race, than 30 (or whatever the limit is) randoms.

@Muska, what wheel have you got/peds do you need?
Ive no personal preference to when its held, as long as it doesnt clash with F1 my weekends are empty, although im heading to Oulton for the BTCC this weekend :)

To be fair 23 mins notice isn't enough, I might have joined again if I'd seen it before the start time but I didn't. However I don't get the feeling there is enough interest in these parts for sprint races, I see no chance of getting enough drivers together for an endurance event.

Apparently it's sold a million copies worldwide so far.

Also anyone who invested at senior tool pack and above should get the DLC for free and any further DLC that was started with WMD funds. Apparently they aren't quite sure how they will do this at the moment.
