The graphics make up a huge part of the gameplay, 3d games usually have to be twice as good to be as fun to play as 2d games...
It can easely be seen from all RTS games wich have gone pap since the conversion from 2d to 3d.
Not by itself it doesn't. It's just that usually when a company decides to use 3D graphics they feel the need to change the gameplay to take advantage of the properties of 3D graphics. In RTS games this usually comes in the form of being able to easily change the perspective.

Be nice if they could do something with the graphics to differentiate it from generals or c&c 3. Those pics look pretty much like a generals mod with the big chunky units on the screen.

I think most would agree the original red alert in windows 95 had a pretty unique look to it, coming from dos c&c everything in red alert looked smaller and a lot smoother. This almost looks like going back to dos c&c days with everything looking big and chunky on screen. Maybe a more realistic colour scheme would look better, since ea took over the colours in c&c games have got more and more cartooney, overly bright or something.

please let them change it back to single unit selection (as in 1 soldier at a time can be built & controlled)

RA2 is fantastic

C&C 3 wasnt all bad, but EA did massacre it :(

Looking forward to RA3 for a while though, should hopefully be better than TW

Edit: Just seen those screenies, it looks more like RA2, now I am looking forward to it :D

Looks disappointing, am I the only one seeing the gfx look worse than C&C3's ?
Tanks look a tad big.
I don't know what to think yet, but I seriously hope they don't completly kill off the series indeed. Don't forget the sound details EA!

Its chunky isn't it? looks more like a regression on the engine rather than anything enhanced, looks more like a mix of the Generals stuff and Ra2

Yep I think so, just played a bit of RA2 and it's still superb, just hope this is nice to play too...

Seeing the gfx are bad i just hope they do make ncie sounds eg. ''we will bury them'' or ''shake it baby !'' I'm pretty sure I'll just import the RA2 soundtrack into it too lol, I'm really fond of some songs I love listening to hell march 2, grinder, in deep and blow it up :D.

RA2 and YR are two of my favourite games ever. Absolutely brilliant.... I wouldn't like to think how much time I spent playing both.

Won't hold my breath on this being worthy of the name though.. screenies leave me feeling very 'meh'..

ive played since the original C&C, and RA2 is one of the best games ever, especially online

I hope RA3 is good!

You know you've played too much when you go to bed thinking of what strategies to use against the computer for when you wake up and start playing again straight away :D

Well lets just hope it's addicting again, I still recon the pics look pap but you maty never know the game might be okay in reality.

Those screenshots look like Generals. :/

I mean, yeah, they've used the same engine, that's fair enough, but they could have at least put a bit of a unique style into each of the games (Generals, C&C3, RA3). The old ones looked similar, but you could still tell them apart instantly.

Just spotted a C&C3 addon is coming next month

As the expansion pack to the critically-acclaimed and fan favorite, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, this real-time strategy (RTS) game returns to the Tiberium Universe with Kane at the center of an epic new single player campaign spanning 20 years - from the rebirth of the Brotherhood of Nod after the Second Tiberium War through the dramatic events of the Third Tiberium War and beyond. This story will be told through a new set of high-definition, live action video sequences starring a celebrity cast including Joe Kucan, playing the megalomaniac leader of the Brotherhood of Nod, alongside new talent Natasha Henstridge and Carl Lumbly. With your help, Commander, the Dark Messiah may rise again!

i will buy this. it may be good. but it will not be anywhere near as good as the first red alert.

no new command and conquer game will ever beat that game for me.

in fact as my final year project for games creation i intend to make a red alert styled RTS game.

Just spotted? It was announced last August!

This RA3 is looking crap so far. C&C3 with different models. We will see.

it depends on how its executed tbh. I want all of the original red alert units, with a few new ones, similar to red alert 2.

and an excellent sp campaign. that really made the red alert games.

Listen to all you moaners! Jesus christ, give the game a chance! No wonder PC games dont sell, so many people set in their old ways that all new games must be the same as the old ones in order to be good :mad:
