That's a lot better than I originally thought. I've installed and uninstalled and installed over and over because of reinstalls/system upgrades etc. Just have to remember to uninstall before I reformat or anything.

What about people without an internet connection? They do still exist. Will it let them play without being able to activate?

Sounds too good to be true to me,

If you can get the activations back by un-installling then its an excellent system, made even better by not having to have the disc in the drive.

As long as the activations are returned to you im a happy chappy.

I install drivers an such all the time and re-build my machine (Gaming Rig) at least twice a month lol.

Use my laptop as my work/important stuff machine, that never gets rebuilt unless it really needs it lol.

But thats just a waste of time. If I'm formatting my PC, its because its a quick and simple fix. Just nuke the hard drive and start again, hardly takes any time. But with this new copy protection, I would have to uninstall everything installed on my PC before formatting? Who wants to do that?

I don't mind stuff like this as long as its done correctly. If you manage to install the game 5 times then you deserver to ring them

This activations nonsense is a joke. I appreciate you're not really buying the game when you hand over your money for it (just paying for a licence to use it ala Windows), but these arbitrary restrictions are hugely annoying.

If this gets played as long as RA2 I'd be amazed if anybody *doesn't* manage to reach 5 installs and by that point there's probably more chance of an asteroid collision wiping us all out than EA actually continuing to have the activation servers on

That sounds pretty good, just need to remember to uninstall before reinstalling windows.

Rather they didn't have it, but sounds a lot better than there other attempts.

Think this is the way all software will go. 5 times is not bad its the same as windows.

What would annoy me would be having to activate after a hardware change as thats more likely to happen than a reinstall, but spore hasn't asked me after I change my gcard

Having to activate online and only 5 times, "life happens"? wow the cheek of it, all to play a game, what's wrong with cd keys and cd copy protection, where will things end, pathetic, if people accept this crap there will be no end to it.
