Renegade a let down? Lol it was one of the best multiplayer games you would ever play. And no CnC's were a let down just some were a lot better then others. Unlike other people I will base my opinion on the game when its actually released and not because "OMG EA makes it!!!".

Some of the people who worked on Red Alert 2 also worked on Generals + Zero hour. Of course a lot of people are going to "jump ship" as you put it but thats normal for any company. The Executive Producer, The Producers and some of the Game Designers stayed, but there is always going to be change in a company with a long running series such as C&C.
Original C&C - Great
Red Alert - Great
Tiberian Sun - Good
Red Alert 2 - Very good
Generals - Mediocre
So up until Generals they had a good thing going, but that was just one game that wasn't as big as a success as it could have been. It doesn't give the people the right to slam C&C 3 before its even out. Just because other titles branded with EA suck (Sims, FIFA anyone?) and they feel they need to release non-stop sequels and expansions doesn't mean that this game is going to flop, but why do they release them? because your average gamer buys them and if theres a profit to be made EA will do it.
Also don't forget that EA isn't just one studio its a huge probably one of the biggest game developers/publishers to date, so the people who develop FIFA and the Sims aren't going to be developing this game.
If they screw up again then feel free to be negative about anything EA
