C63 AMG / M3 / RS4

It'd be a tough call between the BMW and the Merc but I think for me it'd be the M3, a precision instrument rather than the crazy lumphammer that is the C63.

I just can't put my finger on why but it wouldn't be the RS4...

havent been in C63 but rumor has it that its v good...however prefer to have a coupe and stil unsure as to whther they imroved their plastics. M3 nice but underpowered. RS4 getting a bit old now. RS5 now, that wud be nice ;) out of the options given i guess it wud still be the M3 tho

IIRC the C63 was criticized for its ride comfort and handling compared to the M3 and RS4. Also, no manual transmission?
Having never driven any of them, I'd go for the C63 based purely on looks.

I don't think you can really call the M3 underpowered, the quickest car I've driven on the road is an E39 M5 which is 400bhp and to me feels seriously quick, the E92 M3 has 420bhp and is lighter I think?

ell IMHO its more the fact u need to rev the **** out of it and be a very skilful driver to get the most out of the engine i guess. lack of torques also i suppose

referring to just outright speed acceleration tho.

in that bracket i think i would only settle for a C2S. still woudlnt mind a cayman S tho as you can actually spec an LSD now. mmmmm

You've got your links all wrong. And considering how many hugely underpowered and problematic rs4s there are, I'd be tempted to give them a miss. Housey on this forum can tell you all about them.

Depends what you want really. If you want the most accomplished road car this side of a GT-R then buy an RS4. I've had issues with mine, nothing major all niggly little annoyances that have been a pain in the bum for someone who doesn't have the time to 'just pop it in' all the time but when it's running right it is an amazing all weather barn stormer that will best an M3 and C63. I have driven a number of M3's now and they are a great car and more fun than the RS4 but are not as planted or secure and the C63 is much the same. Nice to see the RS4 prices have firmed up lately means I can get out of mine soon without taking a bath. I've driven/owned lots of performance cars over the years and none have been as easy to drive quickly on the road in any conditions. It may not be the most agile or exciting car but A to B little or anything would get close to one.

I think it's sad that today most people seem to have forgotten what makes a sports car special over a more mundane version. Over the last 3 or 4 years it seems that many people define the capability of their car based on some rolling road print outs, 1/4 mile or 1/2 mile times or some YouTube videos down a runway. A great sports car has never been defined by its ability to run up through the speedo quicker it's so much more than that. The engine in the M3 alone is why any 335i, even with 400 horses is not in the same league. The throttle response and sharpness of the M3 engine is epic and no turbo to this point has got close to that, nor will they in my lifetime I suspect. When you are use to driving high performance NA engines it's quite easy to spot turbo lag even in some of the best uses of turbos so far such as the 335i and 997 Turbo. Something special about running a car to 8200 and balancing it on a sharp NA throttle.
