CACJE 0546 a good stepping?

No I just wondered ,hadn't heard any new ones come through ,that's all
I originally got involved in this thread as I was one of the 1st to get one from OcUK (back order) ,bought it for a mates rig.

Would love to have a 146 for myself ,but dual core would be sweeter ;) too expensive for me atm ,overdraft to clear & car to fix :(

Nice :)

Anymore of these steppings coming through?

Mine is at 2.8, defaults volts (1.425 bios, 1.465 real). Max load with an A64 Freezer Pro is 41 ish, low to mid 30's idle depending on ambient.

I'm tempted to go for 3ghz, but worried that on air that might be a bit of a stretch. I have been bumping it 100 a day and running Prime. Not flinched yet :)

Bargain !. Reminiscent of the good old days - the Celeron 366 that did 550/the P3 700 that did 933, the NW 1.6a that did 2.4 (still got that one in my server). 50% overclock on air at stock volts , can't get better than that !

Hey guys! :)

I'm looking at all your typed results and looks amazing but how come none of you are posting any screenshots?

I need to pick up a mono-core for a friends PC so would be interested to see what's the safest bet for some 2.8GHz (stable) action?

If you wanna test your overclock for XtremeStability™ then run two sessions of Prime (1xSmall FFTs and 1xLarge FFTs) for over 12 hours and post your results here (24hours would be great!!)

Bit of a pain I know to run this test for so long, you won't be able to game while the dual prime is running but you can surf and stuff no problem, so I guess I will have to wait until after the weekend. .

Yes I know these things are mono-cores but it will find any problems with your overclocks fast!!! then u can make adjustments and get back to some gaming action with no fear of a BSOD interupting your frag session.

It wouldn't be an increase over what?

Purely for testing purposes you want to underclock your RAM & HTT ,then ramp the FSB until you've found your max CPU clock ,then lower the CPU multi & see what the RAM can go upto.
Actually before either of those tests you could also find out your max FSB by underclocking your RAM & CPU.
Anyway ,once you've found your max CPU you can decide on the optimium setup:)
nice way to see what's limiting what hehe, i should really work things out more logically

I can run at 2.8ghz @1.425volts prime stable. Im currently at 2.9ghz @1.5volts game and superPI stable. (i will test prime shorty) I can boot with 3ghz @1.52volts but SuperPI fails within about 10seconds.

My max temp at the moment is 50c on MBM5 after playing DOD source for an hour or so. What sort of max temperature is ok?

I may go back to 2.8 and 1.42volts even if 2.9 is prime stable. (or maybe not :) )

I've seen this stepping Opteron 146 max out 2.8-2.9GHz on 1.6v so I don't think 3GHz is doable unless you have very good cooling ie. Phase.

or a £16 arctic cooler pro. Phase will do about 3.6!

Almost no chance of doing 3.6GHz with Opterons ,even on phase.

Hitting 3GHz on air is doable as has been shown in the other Opty thread ,but it is down to the quality of the core.

Geeza
What temps are you getting running P95 @ 2.9GHz @1.5v?

Big wayne
No point running 2 instances of Prime 95 for single core CPUs ,1 instance tests it just fine.
But yes 12hrs should be considered the miniumum & 24hrs ideal :)

lol I'm flattered, but it's more for you than me, and of course everyone who looks at that overclock have a few questions answered.

Looks good though :)

If you have time, could you please attempt this on your mono-core

XtremeStability™ - 24 Hours Dual-Prime

I'm just curious to see how it performs in the 12-24 hour area and also how it copes with running Stressprime Small FFTs *and* Prime 95 Large FFTs at the same time. Its a one shot deal, please please please :)

2.9ghz was stable on everything aprat from it failed prime after 3 hours. Max temps on 1.5volts was 51c i think. Im at 2.8 again now as it is 9hour prime stable and max temp is 48c

Im sure 3.6 is doable as someone has got a 146 to 3.4ghz on water.

Personally if I spend £200+ on a water setup then messing about installing it i would want at least 3.1ghz from it

Im sure if I had a strong single phase change unit like a Vapo LS / Mach II GT and a Opty 154, I would have a damn good go at getting 3.6GHz. Its pretty much doable I think.

4000MHz has been down by a non-fx cpu, an Opty 154 ;) Autocascade power...

Opteron 144 (venus): Overcrash - 3630 MHz
Opteron 146 (venus): MOSO - 3813 Mhz
Opteron 148 (venus): Daniel - 3787.85 MHz
Opteron 150 (venus): Predator - 3600.9MHz
Opteron 154 (venus): s7e9h3n - 4005.19MHz
Opteron 165 (toledo): Eldonko - 3433.07 Mhz
Opteron 170 (toledo): Absolute_0 - 3473.7 Mhz
Opteron 175 (toledo): Pedro Rocha - 3405MHz

Got some way to go to beat any of them...

Heh it was no problem

Anyway, passed 20 hours of XtremeStability™ testing. Couldn't wait for the entire 24, got games to play :p

And what the hell is your mate planning on doin to that opteron? What environment are you simulating with both small and large ffts at the same time for 24 hours!? :p

Also, it's quite tempting now to try and squeeze a few more Mhz out of it, damn obsessive overclocking
