Cadbury's Dairy Milk - Yuk?

They changed Cadbury’s Caramel at some point in the last 5-10 years too. It used to be a lovely sweet and silky caramel, now it taste bloody awful.

We had the displeasure of receiving a plastic Cadbury’s box of crap at Christmas and thought “well, I suppose I’ll at least have the Caramels”. Nope, not even they were palatable.

Of course the ingredients can be compared. This argument has gone on for nearly a decade now, don't you think somebody would have found something by now?

I guess it's easier for some people to believe Cadbury's is lying than believe a bunch of people convinced the recipe has changed without a scrap of proof could be wrong.

They publicly admitted changing the recipe for Dairy Milk in 2019, and the two times I cited before that.

The news reports at the time had someone from Cadburys marketing team saying words to the effect of "our research shows the new recipe is more popular".

Let me get my coffee and I'll dig you out some links.

You'll find the 'change' in 2019 was the release of the reduced sugar Dairy Milk which is sold alongside regular Dairy Milk - it's not a replacement for it.

They replaced raisins in Fruit and Nut with sultanas, then said everyone preferred it. Nobody did.

As much as it might have been a bad move, they changed the fruit, not the chocolate.

They replaced Dairy Milk in a lot of products with a cocoa mix that they said everyone preferred. Nobody did.

And this is replacing Dairy milk for a different recipe in some products (wasn't Cream Egg one of them?). This is not changing the recipe for Dairy Milk itself.

Yep, in 2015.

Outrage as Cadbury's owner changes Creme Egg recipe
Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate is no longer used for Creme Eggs' shell

I’m finding I’m starting to like dark over milk more and more as I get older. Both my grandparents loved it too.

Is it an age thing. More refined palette as you age or the like?
I have a bit of a theory with that. I think as we age we become more tolerant of 'bitter' tastes. I can remember as a kid, hating dark chocolate, beer (lager + bitter) and coffee. As an adult I love these flavours. To me they all have a 'bitter' taste, that I've grown to like as I've gotten older.

Yeah, as a kid I hated Marmite. Absolutely love the stuff now.

I haven't really noticed the difference....although I do remember I used to try make a cake of dairymilk last longer by letting the pieces melt in your mouth, rather than chewing...to savour the flavour :p...can't remember doing that recently so maybe that's because it's not as good now

**** knows

Whatever Mondelez touch turns to ****. Although it becomes "more healthy," as it becomes smaller with less in.
