Like most games that started life on the PC, they are slowly getting consumed by the console market and being destroyed or turned into some arcadey style shooters with very little depth.
call of duty are probably the most played games online(if you add up all three series)and amount of peeps playing em at once.The community is massive online
cod1 made for single player you must be crazy still thousands of servers as we speak.single player games probably entertain you for a month if your lucky,multiplayer has years of potential if done right.cod1 been massive online since sept 2003,uo since 2004 .some how i think the success behind the games is multiplayer content.

i still think single player is where CoD is at its best. the pace,dramatics,script,sheer fury of the enemy adds up to one of the best gaming experiences i've had.
if they incorparate that into CoD4 i'll be sold on it!
MP is a good laugh but there is no heart or soul to it, just endless fragging.
each has it's own place but SP has a story to tell where as MP just has a game to play.

It looks immense. The trailer looks like it really captures just how epic wars are. It is going to be a really good year for PC games. Just the FPSs alone make for some brilliant titles.

Very much looking forward to this. Hope they sort out the mp game though. I think they were really onto something with CoD's United Offensive expansion, i was really hoping they'd develop the mp gametypes from UO in CoD2 but instead they totally abandoned the new vehicle/base destruction game type.
