[4K] Call of Duty Black Ops 4: Behind The Scenes - Blackout, Battle.Net, PC + More
Join Digital Foundry for an extended special, where we interview staff from Treyarch and Beenox about the Call of Duty Black Ops 4. Learn about engine enhancements for the Blackout battle royale, the deep focus on the PC version, plus the integration of battle.net.

This is a really good video that gives us an idea mainly how how much more effort has gone into the pc version of BO4 compared to previous attempts at the game. It's worth the 30 minutes.

Have you pre ordered? or are you going to?

I really enjoyed blackout and posted a video about it, sadly can’t post it in here as too many swears!

Looking forward to having a smash on zombies now too!

so unless you are a raging moronic fanboy, you must be able to see things from my point of view?

Defensive much?

Am far from a cod fanboy, not sure how that comes around from me just trying to give you guidance.

Seriously though this game is IMO super marmite.

I really like it and am surprised by it’s fun.

Looking forward to having a go on normal mode and zombies now too.

Just got home and activated my key from CD keys. Downloading it now ready for a weekend session!

If anyone wants their battlenets putting into the OP so others can add you to play together post them in here and il update the op once a day ish.

Did any of you get a code from the Asus gfx card promotion recently? If so did it work and you got your game? I got a code sent via email from Asus, but the code didn't seem to work on Activisions site.

Are you putting the code in correctly?

I was doing it like XXXX-XXX-XXXXXX-XXX but it seems activision don't want the - in there. Just write it all out in one long string like xxxxxxxxxxxxx that worked for me.

Hmm, the code I got was in this format: XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX . I tried with and without dashes, even tried typing it in instead of copy and pasting with no luck. Tried 3 different browsers and they all say its an incorrect code.

Asus are useless and the email link they give to contact should there be a problem just bounces back. Activision said the code went though and I should get a code in 20 days, but the code I just received was supposed to be the code that could take 20 days... It seems after googling there are a few others having an issue and Activision support are giving different answers to everyone, so i'm not very hopeful at all.

Sorry to hear that.

Where did you buy your card from?

I once bought a mobo with a promo on. Paid around £450 from the rain forest site and it was supposed to come with a free key for assassins creed black flag that I intended to sell to recover £30. It came in a scratch card style format and had to remove the foil. Much to my horror and entertainment once I had scratched the foil away there was no key underneath.

I contacted the rain forest about this and they offered me a 30% refund to recover the cost of the game so ended up getting WAY more than the £30 I wanted.

Not guaranteeing you can get similar treatment but I would certainly push for a part refund from wherever you bought it.

Wow, thats awesome. I should start complaining more, I tend to just forget about things like this as they were supposed to be 'free' anyway, so just let it go.

I'm just going to wait for the 20 days to pass and then contact Activision again, then go from there.

I would be pushing it a little pal 20 days will take you way past launch day.

Looks like it is a 5AM job then :(

On the bright side i am on 2-10:30 so i will be home for 11 straight into bed with an alarm set for 5 :D

:D I can’t belive I am genuinely excited to play a call of duty game!

Feels alien to me :D

Also for those who may not have watched the 30min video

Blackout is being limited to 120fps for a few days for further server testing, it will be progressively raised over the coming days/weeks.

I still don't technically understand why local FPS has any relevance to server side config!

I belive it is to do with data sent : data received. The more frames you push the more data you send and the server needs to be able to cope with it.

But my knowledge is limited.

I thought that's why you had tick rates, rather than this linked to FPS. Who knows!

The tick rate on blackout is super low sadly (10 or 20hz iirc) I think that’s the issue, they need to make sure the amount of frames doesn’t deteriorate the experience

Been playing it for a while. Zombies is good fun, only played one online game of it with an ex and her bf ( he was somewhat salty upon me killing a zombie with my knife in round 1 for ks despite it chasing me )...... guess it's something else that's bothering him????????

only had a couple games of blackout feels good but struggling to hit 120fps on the bigger map.

Had to lower my settings to minimum and res scale down to 60 (1080p native) to get it to really smooth frame rates in normal and zombies (1050ti) can't wait until my new gpu gets in! Might be able to push my 240hz screen to it's limits.

Did they confirm they would be starting at 120hz/120fps cap and then looking to unlock down the line when they've analysed ?

Yes they did. They will be progressively raising the frame cap as mentioned somewhere in this video by one of the developers.

Might grab this as I need something different to PUBG..cheapest place to grab this?

Probably still cdkeys, check dlcompare it's like compare the market for cd keys ( just read reviews of sites first )

Lets not make out as if blackops is going to be a better BR than PUBG etc...
Gameplay is way better in pubg, due to the lean towards more realism and the need to use more tactics, with better gunplay. COD gunplay has always been a little pants overall.

I think it's a personal choice really what you consider to be better. So far after several hours of beta and launch of blackout. I can say im having a lot more fun and think it's a better experience so far than what i have on pubg and i have several hundreds of hours on it likely even approaching thousands.

Pubg is more "realistic" but if you want realism then you don't buy cod we all know this. It's a fun, fast paced, polished and smooth experience and is arguably more polished than pubg is in it's current state. This probably stems from money and access to huge resources on treyarch/blizz/activision side ect.

The movement system certainly is leagues ahead of pubg but that stems down to that word realism again. pubg is slow and clunky, like real life. This is really fast slidy and instant sprinting. Sure it's not realistic but for some of us it offers a "better" experience even though it's not realistic.

I think pubg and fortnite are both too big to die for a fair few years at least.

Cod needs to find it's audience over the coming months before we can see where it will end up :D

have to say im disappointed that i need to leave for work :( would much rather have a day long bash! WEEKEND
