Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare / Warzone (Battlenet ID's in OP)

I don't think I had to do anything special, perhaps it needs an up to date afterburner beta like one here: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/forums/posts/34378282

One thing I did notice after the recent windows re install was that game was crashing any time I changed video setting or alt tabbed. Turns out it did not like having both Afterburner and discord overlays enabled at the same time. :)

Thanks for the reply, yeah everythings up to date. Had a tinker with a few settings last night and all I managed to do was get the game to hard lock and CTD a few times, so I think the OSD will be getting switched off.

I keep having a dip into the Black ops multiplayer but I just can't seem to bring myself to enjoy it the way I did with Modern Warfare. It feels like a deliberate throwback and the maps are bloody awful for the most part. I have yet to play the campaign yet but I am leaning towards just running through that and then uninstalling it and sticking to the odd game of Modern Warfare as it's so much better in every way.

If anyone fancies a few chilled games of WZ over the next few days feel free to add me on bnet; swinbag#2909.

Nothing sweaty, I'm just fed up with random solo's :)

I see what people mean with regards to the DMR weapon. That thing is pretty insane, no scope glint, barely any recoil. Pairing that with increased hackers it's pretty tough to even get close to the end of the fine circle.

Managed to get to the final 4 (only 2 kills) just now in a solos. Someone with a DMR14 killed me in 2 shots, full armour, no glint from maybe 30-40 meters away

I've recently just got into gaming again after like 15yr or whatever, I am running on a laptop and I have MW and just got the new Cold War, It is very different from how I remember multiplayer...

So many platforms you have to sign up to, like people here are saying some people are just either cheating or insanely good and how do all these extra maps and weapons work? I just pay for the standard editions or stuff, I have no idea what all these battle passes are and seasons? So do you have to pay extra for things on multiplayer games these days?

What is the WW2 CoD like? tbh I am enjoying it, the gfx, etc are so much more than they were 15yr ago I am wowed still every time I put a game on :) Sure it will wear off.

Anyone having performance issues with WZ today? I have problems with textures loading very slowly, invisible guns after respawning, audio dropping out etc.
I did move my WZ folder to a new SSD a few days ago and load times etc seemed to increase and the gameplay was smooth but today has been horrible.
Any thoughts?

Update - copied WZ folder back to my original HDD and all is good again. Not sure why, but I'll leave well enough alone.

Does / has anyone had any audio problems with wz on PC?

I previously played on PS4 but when my 3080 turned up I downloaded it on PC but I can't get my sound working correctly.

I've tried using my Astro A40s (previous gen model, 6 or 7 years old) and initially the mic wasn't working. I tried using the mixamp and a y splitter I bought to no avail. I could hear game audio fine and party chat but the game wasn't picking up me speaking. After some fiddling about yesterday the game now picks up my mic, I can hear the game audio but not the party chat.

I have the headset and mic set as default device in Windows, I have the game set to use my default audio device. Any ideas?

No issues here.

You could try doing what I do and disable all playback and recording devices apart from the ones you need, like this...

Thanks, I'll give that a try. If that doesn't work I'm not sure what else to try.

I don't have a sound card, just via my motherboard. Not sure if that would be an issue.

Worth giving it a try.
Make sure motherboard drivers are updated. Could always buy an external (or internal) soundcard/DAC. Motherboard onboard sound is generally terrible

Yeah I'm looking at getting one anyway, just not decided on which one. I'm considering getting a G6 or K5 pro, I'll be using it for music as well but just need to settle on one and get it.

Yep you can get it for 68.99 delivered by using 5OFF as the code. I got it just before Christmas but its had limited use so far (few hours at most), but an upgrade from my Xonar.

Out of interest how good is the G6 for listening to music? I had been very close to picking one up anyway but it's likely to get used for that as well.
I got my G6 to replace my Xonar Essense ST (pci soundcard) For gaming its better, the mic inputvus better. The software is better too.

Music quality wise its certainly on par with the Essense (a great older ‘audiophile’ grade soundcard) it’s not quite as loud but never had the essense on max volume, nor do i with the G6. I think the essence was +18db on extra high gain, the G6 is +14db on high gain (there is high and low)

Suppose it depends on the headphones being driven, for in the mid end market most it will be enough. Maybe not for high
End equipment like HD800 headphone. But then why buy a £70 DAC to drive equipment thats in thousands

That's great and a huge help, thanks. I wouldn't be pairing it with high end equipment so it sounds perfect for my needs.
