Calling all Gurus, I'm in desperate help here, please come in and help regarding GPU issues.

I wonder if connecting a grounding strip of some sort between the pump and the case would help? Anyway hope you get this sorted soon Tony. :)

tbh if you having all these issues just get rid.

often with these random issues you either spend loads more trying to find source or you dont find it at all.

cut losses sell get different card/cards.

Thx very much guys for the continuing help here, you've all been helping greatly.

I've not said anything publicly in detail, but this build has been particularly emotional due to the passing of my father very recently. He loved seeing how I could build a pc, he put some money in his will to help me with this as he knew my intentions before he passed. Along with some really beautiful words, I felt this build was very important to get right. Last two weeks have been pretty rough, just the thought of it not working has been tearing me up a little due to its state and what my late father said to me in his will....kinda felt like a failure, so apologies to all at times if I come across a little raw.

Hopefully tonight when I get home from work, I'll take the pump out and try running it not attached to the chassis. Now I just need to find a fix.

Sorry about your loss.

No need to apologise, hope you get this sorted :)

Well said Scotty, and +1. We are all here to help as much as we can. Hope you get this sorted soon.

I had some problems after re-applying the paste on my 295x2 the first time. When cleaning the paste off the core there was some residue let on the small metal things surrounding the core which caused problems in 3d mode. After cleaning it off properly, it worked fine.

ok, just got home, first easiest test to do, just tried turning the pump down to it's lowest speed setting, black screen instantly so that's no different. Will see if I can get the pump detached from case and test again. Not sure if I can do it with one set of hands, so that might have to wait till my assistant gets home lol

Would try Luc's method first before fully extracting the thing! Have you also checked the molex connectors like he mentioned?

Also make sure that the molex connector is correct and does not create a short by itself and one other thing I would do is to disconnect the rpm signal (or pwm if it's not a vario) from the motherboard

Looking at the molex it's only two wires a black and yellow. Yellow is normally +12v but black is supposed to be common but it's in the wrong place so must be being used as a -12v. Looking at the images of D5s it's got an exposed metal top which I would have expected to be grounded (unless 12v stuff doesn't have the same basic regs as 240v+ wiring ).

yep ive had the 3 pin rpm cable disconnected always, it's never ever been connected. The molex from the pump just has two wires, a yellow and a black, not sure what I'm testing for there.

just dropped the core clock and the mem clock to as low as I could go so I could run the tests for longer. In a 2 minute run, not one black screen. It's absolutely 100% an issue with this pump. I've now emailed the guys here about RMA or what the process would be. I'm guessing it's not as easy to test a pump in a loop as it is to just test a card or something. Lets hope I hear back soon as they have 5 in stock right now. This has been a long drawn out painful experience

Switching a pump is such a pain :(

Luc, Iv'e literally drained and filled this loop more than a dozen times in the last week..all I can say is thank god I put a drain valve in the loop and it works so effectively lol.

Be specific if you rma it as ocuk test on an open bench with no case afaik.

Did you try:

One thing you could do to isolate the pump from the case without dismentling all the hard tubing, would be to detach the pump and decouple it from the case with a piece of foam or even a cloth towel. Something not thick so you could still have every tubing in place

It's certainly all pointing towards the pump mate so I would order a new one.

Switching a pump is such a pain :(

Takes me seconds

Use quick disconnects.

Ok guys, pump/res combo detached from case, held on to it and tested, still black screening under test. Oddly tjough, when I drop the core mhz by 100, no black screens. These cards were doing 1150mhz for fun on air previously so I know it's not the cards. I ran 950mhz on core and no black screens.

What are your GPU temps when doing the above ?

30c to 35c on the core, 41c vrm1 and 57 on vrm2.

Maybe the pump and the higher frequency interfering somehow? I don't know, just randomly guessing here lol. ocuk sent out a new pump this evening so will get that in the loop tomorrow night and see what's what.
