calling all LOTRO players

yup in general pvp, well some people like it some don't. but the pvp area, you end up doing a LOT of fighting npc's in the "raids" to take back bases, theres little incentive to take back bases. mostly you get groups of weavers/burglers vanishing jumping out in groups and attacking lone players, then hunters and burglers about 10 seconds before they die use df or vanish to dissappear from a fight and won't come back till the skill cooldown has passed. its fairly silly, unbalance and as said guards hate pvp as aggro skills only work on npc's, unless they manage to add some kind of completely enforced targetting. IE a guard gets right up in a monsters face, uses aggro and some kind of aggro limit is reached then the monster can't hit anything except the guardian, till something like that is added, which would be pretty damn awful they won't like pvp.

the one thing a lot of wow had over it was pvp being instanced a lot, and battles starting with a full group on each side. i don't think i've ever been into entenmoors and seen a 1:1 ratio of monsters to non monster players, not even close. monsters get destiny points for taking back bases, which lets them upgrade their characters, non monsters get 3 crappy tokens which in general, after you get 25 let you open chests in home base which once in about a billion times gives you decent kit, basically just doesn't happen. lately on evernight no ones been bothering with non monster side, bases don't get retaken so likewise monsters can't fight to retake bases that have been lost.

needs a huge revamp.

Hey Loki I added you your chars as friends and saw that Lokion was online but when I tried to speak to you it kept saying you need to be a friend or in the same fellowship or kinship???

Do you need to accept me as a friend or something? my char name is Silaas

Hi

to speak to me when we arent in the same fellowship you will need to send me a tell.

to do this u need to click into the chat window and type /tell lokion "message content"

then when i send you a message back you can press R to bring up the /tell lokion part automatically so you can just type in ** message.

hope that makes sence :)

spent another evening in the rift last night, managed to down thrang so im now sporting the title "ruination of thrang" of course the Balrog was a completely different story. first stage went flawlessly but when we engaged the everseer it all went wrong, oh well theirs always tonight :)

Well I added a few of you last night and spoke to Akkari and Loki....... figured out why I could not speak to you earlier you cannot tell anyone at all or speak to anyone from a different area when in the trial version!

Gone with a champion and seems ok now but I can see it getting a bit repetitive tbh so I'm going to get it to about level 10-15ish and then make a Hobbit Burglar and give that a try see which one I like best...... says Burglars are de-buffers though so does that mean they are crap at combat or something?

Cheers and speak to you soon

Chris (in game name Silaas on Snowbourne... feel free to add me)

I found the questing side of the game really good when i played for a few days. It was quite slow to level by yourself and seemed to actually encourage group leveling

hi Silaas

was nice to speak to u last night mate tho im sorry i couldnt really chat, that balrog takes a lot of attention (especialy when hes kickin our butts)

regarding burgulars everyone i know who has one loves em, and i read seperatly (i beleive on the official forums) that burgs have the 3rd highest Dps after Hunters and champs so certainly capable of handling themselves in a scrap. the only major difference is that while hunters and champs r pure dps burgs skills require planning ie a normal attack may be quite weak but the same attack executed from stealth is ultra powerful.

also remember that your character will pick up more powerful and interesting skills the further u get into the game so although ** champ feels repetative at the moment u will find the fights get more intense and strategic the more u get in.

hope this helps a little.

Railo LvL20 burglar.

Yeah it does mate thank you.... I look forward to recieving your wisdom and help in game!!!

Did you manage to bring Balrog down?

did we heck lol,

we can do the first section of the boss pretty straigh foward but then life gets difficult and we didnt fair so well.

unfortunatly the instance reset today so we will have to clear it again for another run at the big guy. fortunatly we pretty much have the first five bosses on farm with the sixth offering slightly more of a challenge.

i get a night off tonight anyway as im not signed up to the raid again untill friday. so with a bit of cod4 mixed in i should get a clear evening.

will try n drop you a line but will probbaly be on with my hunter either pushing for lvl 49 or more likely being lazy and just taking him down to the ettens for some hunting :)

Add me to your friends list?
I am a Dwarf Guardian called Asendaric on the Snowbourn server, currently level 22 but leveling up fast :)

Hi everybody,
I've been thinking of getting LOTRO for a while now, so today i finally caved in and bought the gold edition for £20 which i was quite pleased with. Ive just had a look at the official forums to find out some general info. In the recommended realms list there is just the one English server, is it worth starting out on that one? (Gilrain) Or should i be starting on a more populated server with a few of you guys to quest with?

Thanks, Thiras :)

P.S. Ive got one quick question :p

1. How fast is levelling compared to Warcraft? Ive played WoW for the last ~2 years or so, wondering what it will be like to level.

a fair few of us are on snowbourne and its a busy server which should make it easier to find groups with is very important.

as for leveling i find i can lvl up to 40 pretty fast even on my owm.

however i've not played wow so i couldnt compaire the two.

yeah that first update is a real doozy

takes forever and a day, fortunatly untill the next book update you shouldnt need to do any large downloads.

Yes, it takes a while to update if you're new or coming back after several months. Typical of many MMOs though. I remember going back to EQ2 after a long break and waiting forever for it to update. That game and Lotro have had tons of new content and patches since release.

All my characters are on Evernight but not subbed atm, too busy in RL. Will be back in a month or so though when things settle down.

hi guys im starting lotro with 2 other friends and we are total noobs :p so i have a few questions:

- What would be a good server to start on? i hear snowbourne is good ?
- What would be a good class combo for us 3?
- Are there any flawed classes? i mean useless at max level or something
- We are playing the free trial at the moment, can we juste upgrade it to a full account or do we need to buy the box ?
- Are instances more like 2-3 monsters per fight or do you fight large amount of monsters(like in the movie :p)
