Calling wedding photographers.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

On one sentence you are telling him to grow up and the following one you are calling people a muppet.

You have been here long enough that this forum will tell you how it is. When there are that many people saying the same thing about you, it's time to look in the mirror and ask yourself why.

been on this forum for years and come to this section for advice and what do i get ? insulted with I'm cocky ! & I think I am a pro Ya nice one ....... I'm sticking up for myself...... ;)

People merely calling out what is apparent.

There are many many more experienced, award winning photographers out there and none of them will claim they have "mastered" lightroom and photoshop. The only people who can truly claim that are the people who wrote the code. The rest of us can barely keep up!

You see where they can get the impression that you are cocky?

Maybe when the majority of posters have the same views about you then its time to take a look at yourself and the criticisms you're given

You need to stop taken in what I say and judging me from it ! I'm not the best at writing things or expressing myself on a forum...

People are being serious. You just don't want to hear your attitude is poor.

You need to stop insulting people and being sarcastic when the topic at hand is rather serious.

Stop, breath, think before you type. You can't stand behind the excuse you said something you didn't mean to when you have hours and hours to think about what you want to write and then write it all out, then spend the next few days digging a even deeper hole.

Outside of GD, that's patently untrue.

I posted earlier about how we chose Raymond for our wedding, and how it was a risk. I knew of his work from these forums, and while his style suited us, that wasn't our only consideration. By the time it came to actually taking the decision, I'd formed an impression of the man *behind* the photos based on his posting style -- not just in the photography forum either -- and the content of his posts. That impression was of someone friendly but professional, helpful and humble, and who took great pride in their work. This was mitigation for the risk of taking one someone early in their career, and someone that I'd never met.

You don't get many chances to make an impression on people. If your personal and your work persona is presented through the same account online, you need to be very careful about what and how you post, because people *will* use it to gauge you professionally. The best thing you can do now is to accept that people aren't just being sarcastic and trying to bring you down; they're trying to give you advice that will hopefully serve you well both in life and in your budding career. Reflect on that, learn from it, and perhaps you'll find that the right attitude can open doors.

The only thing I've taken from this forum is how many people have so little self awareness. You post what is actually a serious faux pas on your part seemingly oblivious to that you have (obviously) done wrong. What did you want? Reassurance that you can be an ass and that's fine because you deem it so? Welcome to the internet

Jesus I forgot about this thread. Cheers for all the replies, really helpful as to what I should expect in terms of pricing. I guess the thing to do is have a look at a few different portfolios and go from there. Now that the venue is booked I should really get around to sorting this.
