Heya all,

Got my D40 and kit lense this morning and am enjoying getting used to it, and playing with the manual settings :)

However, as I'll soon be taking it on holiday with me, and out and about, I'm a bit stuck over my choice of bag for it.

I've read back various threads here and basically I'm stuck between buying a Lowepro 200AW or buying the official semi-soft CF-DC1 Case and a normal backpack to put it in?

My main consideration is that I don't just want the bag to contain the camera. Ideally I'd like to use it as a general bag too, to put bits and pieces like my mp3 player in, and cabin baggage whilst flying....

Any help greatly appreciated :)

Check out the Crumpler Stripper Ripper (yes, thats a real name), there are photos of it in the Crumpler's site. Can hold cameras, laptop, clothes, and bits a bobs.

Cheers, I did read through that thread :)

Should have posted this there I suppose, apologies....

I'm leaning towards the Lowepro 200AW. I wonder if anyone here has one, and if so, will I be able to put other stuff in it too, besides my camera?

Ive got a Lowepro Slingshot 100. Does the job so far.
Takes the D80 with 18-70 fitted and a 70-300 with some spare room in the main compartment. Top pocket is filled cokin P series filter stuff.

Looking for that on the WWW now, cheers :)

I have the Lowepro Rover AWII - totally love it especially for travelling - it is exactly the right size for carryon. Not the prettiest but it happily works as a daypack and you dont look like you're carrying around expensive camera equipment.

I just got the Low Pro mini trekker, and I have to say I'm disappointed. It's not what I expected at all :| Still, I suppose it does allow me to bodge a tripod to the side now.

Hey mate don't know if you found a bag but I just found this little beauty.

"Lowepro CompuDayPack Slate Gray"

it's supposed to fit a laptop as well but that space can easily be used for other stuff. Plenty of room, and it's a very well padded bag, both inside and out (for your back).

I'm quite tempted going to check it out at the shop again tonight.

Chris.

For general traveling in airports and also use as a camera bag, the most versatile bag I have ever used is the LowePro Omni Trecker. If can be a backpack or a sholder bog, can carry a notebook if you wish, and even a tripod if you want. Also has Pelicon case option if you need to ship it. Fulling configurable interior.
