I just passed a camera van at about 75 mph on my speedo, now when I had the tom tom this said about 71mph do you think they will be so harsh as to do me for this?

My question is it says if you get more than 6 points you revert to learner status so does this mean If I get 2 speeding offences I lose my licence or is it if u get 2 witch is six point if u get another you lose it.

Also can they use the camera van that takes the picture of your face for identification as the last time they send me a letter claiming I did not look male

If it comes I will take it but not if its for like 72mph as thats taking the mickey.

Unlikely that you will get done to be honest mate. on motorways its fairly unheard of anyone getting done for <75/80

off topic; What are you paying insurance out of interest mate and whats your age/ncb? :)

cheers

I certainly hope not, it would just be harsh :p

Currently paying 645 fully comp in my own name 21/1years nocb.
Im praying to every god I know I dont get a letter through tomorrow.

LOL!

ehem....

Can't see you being done for it, if you were doing 85/90 then Yeah you got more of a chance (obviously)

Dave, I'm trying to remember if you came to the Southampton meet. did you?

Or is it NickXX with the Black Bimmer I'm thinking of?

There have been some rare cases apparently of drivers being done for going 1-2mph over the limit. As the police are well within their rights to -- the 10% thing isn't a rule, just a guideline.

Very unlikely you'll be done though, because even the police recognise that 1mph over the limit isn't significantly speeding.

Wasnt me that came to the southhampton meet was prolly nickxx :)
and yeh I couldnt beleave they said I looked female :p was doing 72mph gps witch is about 76 on my speedo. so if they do me am not going to be a happy bunny :( shall have to wait and see as fife police are way to quick to deliver the letter. If there is one it will be on my door tomorrow at 9am

I've always wondered - are the 10% rule and speed inaccuracy ideas seperate things? Or is it a case of the 10% rule covering the possibility that your speedo is innacurate?
For example, say your doing 85, so your real speed is 77ish, if you got caught would the 10% rule then apply so you'd be just within the limits?

Sorry to say, but NIPs often aren't very quick. My mum got hers through the post on the 14th day of the 14 day allowable time frame.

10% + 2mph is just a guide line I know Mercia police force don't prosecute below that speed for camera vans. My fine told me so :(. But wasn't that bothered because I wasn't even anywhere near the 10% + 2 figure either ooooppsss.

Yes mate, when people refer to travelling at an "indicated" speed, it means the reading from their cars speedo. In most cases they know their actual speed from using some form of gps device, tomtom/road angel etc :)

When you get the 6th point, your license gets revoked. So you're allowed one 3-point speeding offence, the 2nd will get your license taken away.

I'd be surprised if you heard anything for 75 indicated.

yeah it's as soon as you hit 6.

i heard about a girl that got caught speeding once, and then ran through a red light in the last week before the 2 years had elapsed. she harshly had to start from scratch

I know mate everywhere else seem to take there time but fife police really have nothing else to do but look for speeders so there usually on your door the next day. Shall post tomorrow if it arrives and what speed I was doing as I said am positive I was not anywhere near 75 so nerve racking few days or nights ahead.

Shall fight it all the way if it comes in for 2-3mph over 70 as im not taking my test and getting 6 points without a fight.

no because Tomtom isn't 100% accurate either.

Still nothing \0/ plus as I was next to a truck and car then supposedly they cant convict you and fife police only do you for doing 77mph. this was all told to me yesterday by a traffic cop I know. but we shall see.

she said that they once had a driver caught at 120mph but as he was overtaking a car at the time and were both in frame then they couldnt do him, anyone heard anything about this?

ps. yeh its a E39 :)
