Camping, why the hate?

I don't mind sniping although I may moan about them a lot, most of the snipers just sit in one spot and are easy enough to take out. A good sniper will move frequently or make sure his back is covered.

I snipe myself but I'm not very good at it and generally just wait till I get enough kills for a chopper then move into the thick of the action :D

Why is door camping wrong?

If I know your coming for point A and you likely route is through my door the sensible thing is to give myself the upper hand. Its just the same as protecting the objective. Too many people lose games because they don't protect their own base with a man or two.

My skills at doing that are vastly under rated compared to Soulja's and Wrydo's 400 kills :D

I didn't say it was?

I just said I knew he would be camping the door.. so I avoided going that particular way.

What REALLY REALLY winds me up to the point I just want to quit is the ******* kangaroo jumpers that are constantly jumping up and bloody down when you're face to face. If I could seriously be in the same room as them I'd stamp on their balls and knee them in the face.
lol :D

Don't see the problem with camping or snipers, its a game and part of it, on domination I often decide to defend a flag and just do that, defend it, not my problem if the headless chickens with a P90 get a headshot and can't use their noob gun up close.

camping does get very annoying, i remember when playing CS:S on the cs_assault map, when jumping in the vent you would go to climb up the ladder and quite a few times there would be an ak47 pointing at you, before you even get the time to look up you are dead

Glad i played on a map that banned people for doing that

It's different levels of camping. Someone who just stays in one spot the whole game and keep going back when they get killed annoys me. It's dull. Especially if its a hard spot to get him in.

But camping for a minute or two is OK - especially if they just keep piling through.

Camping for sniping is OK too... BUT as someone else said, the best snipers will move the second they kill someone (or maybe a couple). In CoD4 the map with the ravine (God I should really learn the names) I have about 10 really good sniping spots. Once I kill someone, I move onto the next one.

I guess ultimately its because anyone can camp a well defended spot - it doesn't take much skill, and you never take any risk.

Laying in wait for someone knowing they are about to go somewhere is not camping.

because most people prefer charging around like headless chickens with zero tactical nouse and get wound up quickly getting shot by the same person repeatedly.
Agreed... People don't like to be beaten and so try and come up with a lame excuse.

No it's sniping :D

My weapon of choice is always the sniper rifle, and after using it throughout games, I have to say I've become pretty speedy with one. But you are definitely right, A player needs to vary his position. I mean there's no fun in staying in just 1 spot, Considering once the player knows you are there, That's not sniping anyway, That's just surviving :D

simple. if someone is gunning you down from the same hard to reach spot over and over, equip yourself with a sniper and give him some s*** back. :p works a treat, play them at their own game.

Tongue firmly in cheek.

So atleast one of our party on Cod is very very vocal on his dislike of campers/camping. I remember another from here being the same with GOW.

Often in a lobby after the game you hear the insult being hurled around.

Why in a shooting game is it seen as such a bad thing? I don't understand it. People get killed by snipers then complain they are camping. They are snipers they are not supposed to be running round surely.

Or you get the same foe keep going back to the same spot for kills. "That camping **** has gone back to that spot again"

Surely thats a good thing? You know where he will always be?

"That damn gamertag has killed me again from building X the camping ****"

Hang on, you know he's there and yet he's killed you 12 times. Whose the idiot? Surely it's the more realistic thing to do? Place yourself in the middle of a gunfight what would you do.

Face blanked to protect the innocent but atleast it spawns messages like this one I got on live ;).......

A sniper camping is fine in my book. Thats their job.

A rusher camping all the time is just cowardly.

EXCEPT: unless it is strategic. ie pause at a secure location KILL SOMEONE and THEN advance. First rule in an online fps is that a stationary person is a dead person. Keep moving.

The reason why they do it is because it is easier to defend than to attack. Even in a game where you must go forward to secure objectives they prefer to camp.

Takes balls to rush. Thats my job: bf2142

:D

People who whinge about camping are pathetic. It's part of the game and pretty easy to work around.

Spawn killing is a pain in the arse though and is due to poor game design.

He is just jealous, take it as a compliment and carry on camping if you enjoy it, i always used to get annoyed in CSS and BF2 by people throwing grenades.

It depends, if you are defending an objective, then by all means camp all you want, but if it is your job to capture points and move forward camping is not acceptable in my eyes

That's more about playing the game properly (for a given value of 'proper') rather than camping being an annoyance or a 'bad thing' though.

I agree, camping is not a problem until the player fails to co-operate with the rest of the team. Engineers setting up turrets and staying with them at the last point rather than pushing forwards in TF2
I only find campers annoying if they are at spawn or are exploiting a glitch (which is annoying regardless)
