Camping, why the hate?

I hate it when a team/individual is called a camper when playing CSS or Search and Destroy on COD, AND THEY ARE DEFENDING.

Of course I am camping, I am defending this bomb site, BECAUSE THAT IS THE DAMN OBJECTIVE!!

Good point, I hate the complainers more than the actual campers.
And if a whole team is camping out its even better for me cause I'm gonna nade your asses.

I think if someones camping on a game like COD4 where you can respawn and kill him in the next 10 seconds then theres nothing wrong with that IMO.

But if someones camping on a game like CSS or search and destroy on COD4, where once you're dead you have you have to wait until the next round, then I can see how people get annoyed by it.

Surely its just the same if someone "legitimately" [sp?] kills you though.

Then they are being clever protecting the one life they have. Very rarely does a game of search and destroy get won but guns blazing.

Spose, but I just want to clarify that I dont personally get annoyed by it. The only way I get annoyed is if someones glitching on a game or hacking.

WHATS THE POINT!! lol

Battlefield 2 was horrible for glitchers...still a quality game though.

often in bf2142 at chokepoints e.g. in gib it takes one or a few people to rush into the hellfire and try to push forward. Makes a change from everyone just standing and spamming rockets and nades.

I agree spawn camping isn't on, but normal hide in one spot picking people off is all part of the game.

Well we're not married so can't really say Mrs and if i say 'our lass' i sound like a No Swearing!, maybe you have a suggestion? also she is not a 'him'

As for camping i don't mind if the game mode suits it but when you have an objective game such as capture the flag and you come up against a team of campers that's when i get p'eed off. Go play TDM if you want to camp tbh

If i'm honest i'm not totally mad at the campers, i'm mad becuase they killed me, i cannot accept death in a game

To be honest, I know this thread was tongue in cheek, and I think everyone who plays with Soulja just finds it funny and am 98% sure whether someone is camping or not, it's just the done thing to call a person who killed you a camper in OcUKCoD4 matches.

I don't really think any of us take it too seriously?

I admitedly have a very short fuse when it comes to games but when i scream 'You camping ******!' it's because i died, weather he was camping or not doesn't matter, it's just a saying i now have

Camping is a valid tactic in some situations... Those situations where you are on my team.

Personally I dislike campers in games like Halo which are supposed to be fast paced and high aggression. Nobbers that get the sniper rifle in Halo and sod off to the highest perch in the game, pop 2 bullets in you, get a 1 point lead and then disappear for the rest of the game wind me the hell up. Its the same in nutral assault games where a team get a detination and then get the bomb back, make no attempts to attack enemy again, they just hold the bomb off in some remote corner of the map and wait for the clock to tick down really wind me up.

In Games like GRAW or COD camping is a valid tactic which can be mitigated by the often harder tactic for have a go rambosl called teamwork. You get shot by a camper you tell your team. If you approach a chokepoint /camping point use suppressing fire or grenades.

Camping is stupid on Domination though. I have played on teams where everyone camps to get high kill scores, but they will always lose the game as they don't go for the flags.
That is annoying when they are on your team though as you end up running around on your own.

Still a quality game though

Thats nothing, I was playing team doubles with a mate the other day, the other team got in the lead on Guardian and then spent the next 5 minutes spawning and then jumping off the sides!

No chance of killing them and they don't lose points for suicides so they ended up winning. Pathetic sportsmanship, at least they had a terrible death score (about 35 deaths each)

Idiots. There's 2 or 3 camping spots in guardian that you can use without having to resort to continuous deaths

btw if they are doing that get into one of the places you can see most of the map and attempt to shoot them as they jump off. If you hit them, you get the kill

Camping is part of the game, when I played doom I could control the weapon spawns and mega health. With all that power there was no need to go out on a hunt.

Halo 3 benefits from teamwork a lot more than CoD4 in my experience.
