Hi, I have bought a 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD Drive for my Lenovo Ideapad 510 Laptop, using the acronis software i selected automatic clone as suggested by the crucial tutorial and i keep getting to the part after where it says locking c: then it says cloning disk and has stages 1 of 8 of copying the partitions it seems to get to 8 then gives an error and says to look at the logs, i do know where the logs are located but there are a few folders with logs so i am not too sure which i am supposed to be looking at to find out why i keep getting an error.

Can anyone help at all, i could then maybe upload the log as well if i can't work it out.

Thanks

James

Try Macrium Reflect as suggested.

Or rather than cloning with Acronis True Image ... create a backup of your original drive, then recover this to your new drive (create a recovery disk/USb drive first to allow you to do this). This is the way that Acronis have always recommended themselves. I've done this many times over the years (HDD to HDD, HDD to SSD, SSD to SSD, SSD to M2 Nvme SSD etc.) never failed me up to now. Acronis TI is a great program to purchase if you want to set up a proper backup/recovery plan.

So many people only come to try these sorts of programs when they want to migrate to a new drive. Much better in my opinion to use a decent program like this to set up a proper backup/recovery plan. Also facilitates when you want to move to another drive. Only my personal thoughts here.

Good luck.

Oddly enough I think it might be a usb port issue, the ssd was being seen connected to my usb 3 port but just getting that error everyone it came to copying the clone, I have since connected the ssd to one of the usb 2 ports and send to be copying over fine now. Does that mean there's something up with my it usb 3 port do you think or if that normal and something to do with the driver?
