can anyone recommend a cheap sound bar?

Bit of a weird comment that isn't it? Have you ever listened to speakers as opposed to a cack soundbar.

i've owned several soundbars under £200 and i've also owned several speakers ranging from a few quid to thousands of pounds.

my last soundbar iirc I paid £250 for it the YSP 2700 (3 months old second hand on gumtree) they still sell for £400 on ebay second hand so i got a steal. and it's only £50 over the budget he has mentioned and will blow away a brand new set of 2.0's and an AVR.

also he asked for a soundbar. so maybe he doesn't want wires all over the place? why can't you understand some people prefer soundbars?

i own a full cinema system and 2 soundbars too.

I'd stick with a budget avr and stereo speakers that is doable for £200. Wharedale diamond 9.0 with budget avr £150.
surely there's bound to be a soundbar that will produce better results than the tv's own speakers? while not being as good as an avr and speakers it may be the case that the op has to have a soundbar.

You two are totally ignoring a specific fact, the OP hasn't specified he CANNOT have speakers and MUST have a soundbar, if he specifies this then sure, soundbars only, however with no specification be prepared to have alternative suggestions which for that price will have better sound quality.

of course there is and they can be had for under £100 too.

the OP's budget won't get him a great soundbar not new anyway. however I'd like to see what AVR and speakers he can get brand new for £200 tbh. most AVR's cost several hundred pounds themselves.

again the OP has asked for something and he's been told to buy something completely out of budget and isn't even close to what he was asking for.

the cheapest AVR is £150 - which limits him to £50 on speakers.

also he will now need to find space for an AVR too. something a lot of people don't want to do. then he has to run wires from the AVR to the speakers.

at the £200 price point buying an AVR and speakers is a stupid idea IMO. especially when you were looking at buying a soundbar.

avforums recommends the q acoustics M3 the M4 is now available

i would go for that

Yes, but £200 for a new soundbar is not very much so dont expect miracles but should be better than TV speakers. Soundbars can be better than cheapo AVRs and speakers and TBH I think a lot people are stuck in the past always assuming an AVR is better.

@Psycho Sonny Just recommend the soundbar and quit moaning, this isn't a soundbar only forum and he hasn't specified that no one recommend nothing but sound bars. If he specifies that, that's it, however even at 200 or going slightly over, the wharf dales are going to be much better SQ.

butt hurt? you asked why i thought it was ridiculous. i told you why now you are telling me to stop posting when you asked why in the first place.

if anything it's you that needs to stop crying... i mean posting.

Not really £150 avr will be superior power and connectivity that £200 soundbar, and £50 for speakers is plenty, you can the reuse these speakers as rears later.

I know what I wish want for £200 and what is recommend.

I am impressed with parents q acoustics qtv2 and for price it's good but it does have anything of the features even a basic avr has.

not really - he asked for a cheap soundbar not to be recommended a £50,000,000 ATMOS system with triple 30" subwoofers.

it's you that doesn't seem to understand this.
