Can anyone solve my Wi-Fi issues?

Under the wireless settings, what options do you have?
Does it look like here: http://www.pcwintech.com/files/screenshots/comtrend-ct-5365/024.png ?

If so, try copying the settings that picture has, those look like a good starting point to me.

Ok, so I worked through that screenshot, and everything was identical to how it is currently set up so didnt havent to change anything. I looked at the country, and it says Spain, so didnt have to change that, pressed save at the end of each anyway. I closed the DSL router page down, and opened it up again (I didnt have to put a user and pass in this time though?) to see if I had saved the network as open, and it still comes up as open, so Im thinking that means I saved it.

Rather than make it open give it a passphrase and make it WEP, just enter anything and then try and authenticate with your laptop using that same passphrase, just make sure that your router is not doing something not so obvious i.e advertising a 802.11n SSID without support for legacy devices (i.e your laptops).

Im really sorry mate, but a lot of that went over my head! This is all a bit new, as most of the time, ive plugged my router in, and its worked haha! Any chance of idiots terms?

Ok I'm not sure resetting your router to the default setup was the greatest plan in the world as your now getting authentication with your ISP fail, obviously that doesn't ring true though as your using a wired connection to your router to post here?

Click on ADVANCED SETUP and post that screen if your cool with that, or if you know where the WIFI settings are, fire that up and screenshot it here.

No problem mate, here you go. Im assuming you meant Device Info? Not setup? As I couldnt find a Device Setup??

Here is the screenshot of when I click Device Info:

And yep Im currently plugging three different laptops from the router through an ethernet cable to each, and they are all working fine without a problem.

Funny how that thing has wireless bridge, things you want to check are:

1. You can see the SSID "WLAN_8266" I know basic but can you?

2. Under the security tab, use WEP and enter a password thats real easy

3. Fire up your laptop and manually add a new wireless network using the SSID in point 1 and the password in point 2 using WEP.

what happens then?

If it fails check out the page "MAC FILTER" is there any entries here? it should have no entires at all, but what are the other options on this page?

OK...lets see...

1. Yep, I can see WLAN_B266 when I open my available networks options. This is the only one that I can see.

2. Urm, it doesnt give me the option to set security as WEP, only a bunch of WPA settings, defaulted to WPA-PSK. Here is a screenshot of the options available.

3. I didnt do this due to number 2.

Here is a screenshot of when I click MAC filter,

Ok it should be pretty easy from here, you have no MAC filtering so the only thing stopping you is your wireless authentication which is pretty secure, looks like a decent router.

The guy above fixed your biggest issue with the SSID not showing, all you have to do now is use WPA2-PSK and type something fairly simple to remember as a test.

Then just make sure your laptop is using WPA2-PSK as its wireless authentication, does it support that?

If you dont know, fire up your laptop click connect to a new wireless network wizard and then hit the pull down menu that has the authentication types listed, or what model is your laptop (and your parents)

Nope havent tried it yet I dont think...however I think that may have been the original settings, wont hurt to try though!!

Do I want WPA encryption to be AES or TKIP?
