Aren't relocation expenses only for those employees who move their main residence as a result of having to change job location?

If I'm wrong and you can claim relocation expenses just for a change of job location then there is a limit of £8,000. This limit is not per tax year it's the total forever IIRC.

No, there's not, but it is a taxable benefit, except in a few exempt circumstances.

Yes it's up to the employer, but he will still be taxed on it if it's a benefit.

Yeah, it was just the way some others said 'no, you can't claim anything, not even current mileage' basically, that I was sure was not right.
