Can I upgrade the hard disk in a Seagate external hard disk?

Hi, I've got a 160gb Seagate external hard disk, and i need more space. Are these just enclosures or are they locked to the hard disk inside them? I want to stick a 1tb in there, and i really like how quiet it is as an enclosure.

It might be IDE interface inside so check first before buying a drive. Other than that, you can put what you want in there.

Other thing is, make sure you can get into it without breaking it. Sounds silly but it seems practically impossible to get into a WD MyBook enclosure without breaking a latch, I don't know about your enclosure though.
