Can laminate flooring be laid over carpet?

Removing carpet takes minutes. Laying laminate over carpet would result (unless your carpet was remarkably thin) in a very uneven floor surface, and the laminate would quite likely split.

Ok,

Well the landlord and letting agents are both pretty reasonable so I think the best thing to do is have a word with them about having us putting laminate down and taking the carpet up.

Because if we had to leave we'd be able to easily pull the laminate up and take it with us.

If we take the carpet up then we'd have to put it back down before leaving.

Would you also glue back the bottom of the door you had to cut off so you can still open it after laying the laminate?
