Hi guys!

Been on 1.1.4 or whatever it is for a while now, and was wondering if there was a unlock program like ziphone (which I have used previous) to allow me to put the 2.1 firmware on my phone.

Dont want to download anything willy nilly - so I thought Id get your expertise 1st ;)

Also, I have a mac and pc , so I can use programs that are OS specific :)

Thanks a bajilion.

Yeh , im not with 02 - with vodafone. If I do this Quickpwn thing, will it erase all of my contacts and stuff like that?

Is there any way to back them up incase it goes wrong?

The iPhone is automatically backed up to iTunes, assuming you haven't turned that feature off.

When you restore your phone and unlock it and connect it to iTunes it will ask you if you want to add all your data from your last backup. And that includes, SMSs, contacts, call register, photos etc.

well, im not on 2.1, im on the 1.4 fw.

Or do you mean put 2.1 firmware on my iphone THEN run quickpwn?

Want to get it right as I dont want to balls it up ;)

Cheers :D

Yes as in, yes do what you have written in post number 10?

Also, when I do it, it will clear all my stuff I assume.

What ive done in itunes is when my iphone is connected right click on my iphone, click back up. Has that basically backed up all my contacts and the like?

Cheers guys :)

What do you mean at the end? What has the process done? Uploaded the pwned firmware?

Right, this is what Im doing - tell me if im going wrong...

I download and load on to the iphone the latest firmware (from itunes - automatic), I then open quickpwn and I have to select my phone from the choice of 3.

I pick it, it says its doing its custom fw, and would you like to change your recovery files to pwnages own (or something like that) , then tells you to turn your phone off, turn it back on by holding the power button and the home button pressed, after 10 seconds release the power button, and it should go into DRU mode - this is the point where I think it goes wrong...

It doesnt go into DRU mode I dont think because it never does what it says its going to do - nothing happens.

Then I turn the phone on as normal and the custom fw gets loaded onto my iphone, it says leave it to reboot and all should be well - but it never reboots, it just stays on the silver apple on startup.

Done this 3 times now, any ideas?

Thanks guys - starting to wish I never done this now :)

you need to get in into DFU mode,
how was it originally unlocked?
dont worry to much there is always a way to fix them :)

Sorry to hijack, but I finally got round to jailbreaking my iPhone with iPwn last night and I'm having a few problems.

I've got installer and Cydia on my springboard, but every time I try to install a package I get this:

Is this something I'm doing, or is it Cydia?

Edit, just had a thought, in order to do installs, do I have to be connected by wifi rather than 3G?

Edit 2: It appears to be working now.

You doing the pushing buttons right? Follow it as closely as possible. Just keep holding the buttons until you enter DFU mode, ignore Quickpwn.

It was originally unlocked by ziphone - although that shouldnt be a problem should it mate?

Doing it exactly as it says - but I think your right in following it to the tee - as it never seems to work , unless I keep holding in the buttons.

Will try again in a second , and cheers iSam for helping me through this mate :)
