Can my iphone be unlocked to 2.1 fw yet?

Awww mate, im confused also...

Cant use my windows pc as its on the blink so OSX is all I can use.

Right Let me tell you what Ive done.

I put my iphone in itunes and let it update automatically (should I have done this?

Then I run quickpwn and let it do what it says.

But no joy.

So now im trying pwnagetool see if it gives me any joy...

I need it unlocking seeing as its on vodafone. Gutted about this...

Really need me phone to ring me mates - lost without it!

Gutted...

That's where your going wrong. You need to hard reset it to 2.1!

1. Switch the phone off.
2. Make sure iTunes 8 is open.
3. Hold down the home button and plug it in.
4. Make sure you keep holding down the home button.
5. iTunes will tell you it has found a phone in recovery mode.
6. Hit restore.
7. Will take about 10 minutes.
8. Run Quickpwn.

You can't update a Ziphone'd 1.1.4. You have to do a hard reset as outlined above. That is why iTunes is not recognising it I hope.

oooooooooo!!!!!!!

In pwnage tool it says succesfully gone into DFU mode - load itunes and put in your custom firmware...How do I do this??

There will be a custom firmware which pwnage tool created.

Open iTunes (assuming your on a Mac) and hold the option key while clicking restore. Then find the custom firmware and iTunes will put it on your iPhone.

Cool - nice little guide mate.

Done everything you just said, and restored it.

Ran quickpwn, and at 9 seconds where your supposed to hold the home button it comes up with that error in itunes.

What it does do though is go onto the next bit with the bar QuickPwn is about to run on your Iphone.

Now the bar isnt going up at all, how long does this bit normally take?

Is that error supposed to come up on itunes?

Cheers bud.

Step 3 is Home+Power to get it into DFU mode.

Which is what you need to flash the phone from a Pwnaged 2.1 :)

Sorry - new to macs, which button is the option key?

Should I just do that then? I assume that would probably work better?

Your a godsend by the way! ;)

I would leave it and see what happens. Or uninstall iTunes, so it cant get in the way at all?

Or upload the pwned 2.1 firmware through iTunes.

So all I need to do is download a custom 2.1 firmware and just upload it via itunes?

And it will be unlocked and everything and Ill be on 2.1 fw?

Is it really that easy? Why would I need quickpwn at all?

Can anyone provide a quick link, downloadin one at the moment and its slow as hell, cheers guys :)

database error :p

Downloading a torrent, should be done soon :)

Hope this works, if it does, you get hugs in the showers tonight :)

1) Are you downloading all the bootloaders and firmwares etc?
2) Hugs in the shower?!

Make sure you click 'NO' when pwnage asks you if you are a legit iPhone user so it will jailbreak AND activate.
If you don't then you will only jailbreak and not activate.

The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (21)

This is what it says when I try and load up the custom firmware into the phone...

GRRRR WHY ISNT ANYTHING WORKING?!?!?!?!?!?

Is the phone in DFU mode?

Try putting 2.1 on again using the method I said above. Then put it in DFU mode and try putting the custom firmware on again.

I assume DFU mode is recovery mode isnt it?

Right its restoring as normal. I let it do that, then put in DFU mode again and load the custom firmware.

WHAT A PAIN IN THE ARSE THIS 5 MIN JOB HAS BECOME!!!! :p

Try the method that Pwnage tool advises.

Connect the phone to iTunes.

Hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button.
After 10 seconds let go of the sleep wake button and keep pressing the home button.
It should then pop up saying it has found a phone in recovery mode and the screen will remain blank.

Right, what happens is, it comes up with that error in itunes everytime.

I then do the process again, and it starts loading up all the stuff into the iphone (screen is never blank, it always has the apple symbol in the middle.)

It now says its done it and is modifying the firmware, and will reboot itself.

How long does the process take?

Has it done it right?

Hope so.....
