Ive just built my a new computer and i have taken the hard drive from my old computer. The hard drive is definatly compatible and of the computerparts of working fine

The problem is i cant get windows to boot normally. I turned it on it does all the normal stuff at the start, then starts to load windows the scrolling bar goes across 2 or 3 times then the computer restarts...

When it loads again i get the option to Start in safe mode, start in network mode.. etc.. etc

If i choose safe mode, windows will load and i can view all the files and it works like normal safe mode.

Ive been playing around with differnt settings in windows and the BIOS but i just cant get it to start in normal windows mode. :( :(

Does anyone have any advise?

Have you formatted the hard drive, or does it still contain all the data it had on before?

If it does still have the data on it, then start in safe mode, get what you want off it and put it on your other hd.

Then restart your computer with your Windows XP install disk inserted (make sure boot from cd is enabled in the bios)...get to the bit where you choose which drive you wanna install windows on and do a "Quick format" on the hard drive that you just plonked in. After that take out the cd, restart your computer and all will be fine.

Still having problems.

Ive tried a differnt hard drive, i checked that it worked before putting it into the new build and it worked fine.

The same thing is happening windows begins to loads, scrolls across a few times and restarts. The hard drive still works normally in my other computers.

Ive pretty much run out of ideas now *sigh* :(

If anyone has any ideas plz post

Edit:
Ive been browsing the web taking a loot at other forums and everyone with a simular problem makes note of a blue screen flashing up before the computer restarts but i dont get a blue screen :(
