Hi im gonna do another build based on the i7 3770k and Gigabyte UP4 TH Mobo, could you recomend 16gb? I know you may say its overkill as 8gb is usualy enough but while i have the money i might as well.
So maybe 12gb would be a good middle ground? i don't know so any suggestions.
Thanks

hey,im running 8gb of samsung green @2133mhz 1.55v dram just fine on that motherboard, plus its really low profile should you want to fit a large cpu cooler

Thankyou interesting article saying 2x8gb is less resource hungry than 4x4gb thanks

do you really need 16gb? i actually sold 8gb of my ram as i didnt see the point in more than 8gb?

if your an overclocker you'll see better memory clocks with 8gb

if not then go for the cheapest 1600mhz 8/16gb memory imo

as for the crucial memory i have no experience using those, seems expensive for 16gb though

Hi thanks for your input, i know BF3 was better with 8gb so make me wonder what the next step in memory perhaps i will go 12gb.
Thanks

not sure you can,it only supports dual channel/2 sticks so two sticks of 4gb or 8gb ect or 4 sticks of 2gb/4gb/8gb

+1 for Samsung Green RAM.

I've been running 8GB of it for about the last year although I have not tried to OC it.

you should oc them, you will need latest final or beta bios as gigabyte have improved the overclockability of this ram on there boards

2133mhz with 9-11-11-21-1t timings @ 1.55v dram voltage should be doable

Another vote for the samsung green, oc's like crazy. I had 16gb of corsair vengeance lp, was overkill for gaming and made oc'ing the cpu a bit trickier. Also, the vengeance itself was rubbish for overclocking.

Nothing wrong with having too much RAM :D *glances into PC*

But in all seriousness, you don't really need more than 8GB for gaming and general use. :)
