Can someone spec me an fsx build please budget 2kish

I dont have personal experience but from reading above FSX is more about single core performance. That OC 6700k will do fine. A 980ti will of course beat a 970 but at an extra cost.

Well I wouldn't need a monitor I don't think the one I use now is ok. I'd definitely upgrade to a 980ti so I think that works out about 1661. Seems pretty good to me.
Might have to go ahead.
Not sure it's in stock at the moment though

I also stream to youtube. Would it better with a 5820?

Well I would if it was me for the extra 2 cores, this would be a no brainer if it was me buying a new chip. They overclock really well too normally from my experience of doing some of my friends. Anyone who is looking at getting a 6700k would be silly for not considering the 5820k in my opinion.

Since this thread started, FSX was optimised by Dovetail Games and put onto Steam. They have also brought out 'Flight School'.

P3D is at Version '3' and is $200. This (apparently) better utilises modern hardware and is on DX11. However, those on licence "v.2.5" had to pay to upgrade to "v3.x" if they were past their refund timespan.

XP10 has come on in leaps and bounds and is now at version 10.5 Beta. With a cool feature taking Open Street Map data and building cities in 3d out of it in the sim.

FSX is still 32 bit, can be optmised a lot, can use the DX10 fixer for improvements. It still requires a beefy CPU, but won't necessarily utillise all of it, but if you're running web browsers, weather engines, comms and streaming, then the faster the better of everything. And install it onto an SSD.

The future is VR headsets and some kind of control such as 'FSX Fly Inside'.

I currently run FSX and XP10 as per the PC in my signature.

Flying in XP10 out of Aerosoft Heathrow on Vatsim, it still went down to FPS in the teens. :(

What about this?

Only thing Im not sure about is the 2 960 graphics cards? Id rather just 1 980ti or would the dual 960 be OK?

It also says no sound package does that mean extra or do I need to spec that?

Or even this? Comes with the 980ti.
Although if I specced the top one with 2 980ti cards it's about the same price.
Aghh I don't know what to do lol

You just need to decide on either the i7 6700K or i7 5820K. Either will do fine. The i7 6700K is faster out of the box for gaming, and it still beats the i7 5820K in most cases (For gaming) even when they are both overclocked. The i7 5820K is better in cpu intensive stuff though due to the extra cores/threads. So things like rendering/video editing should be faster.

i7 6700K:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,702.86
(includes shipping: £0.00)

Or if you want the 6 core i7 5820K cpu just swap out the cpu/board/ram

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £639.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

You can ask overclockers to build it for you if you don't want to do it yourself.

i cant help, but im just curious as to what FSX is? the initials reminds me of snow board game, but so far from the thread it seems like its a flight simulator?

is it better than flight simulator or the same thing as been years and use to love playing that with my brothers flight controllers, quite like simulators

I haven't played it to be honest. They are not really my favourite genre (More of an RPG/JRPG/Adventure game fan myself) although I do enjoy some Sim games like Cities Skylines, Parkitect and Planet Coaster.

From most of the comparisons I've seen the 5820 has been better. I'm really torn now lol.

See what I do I record with shadowplay and then edit the videos for youtube but I don't do any massive amount of editing or any other sort of work on it, it's primarily for gaming. I'm sure ithe 6700 would handle the editing ok wouldn't it just not as well as the 5820? As long as it works and is a better performer for gaming then I'd be inclined to go with that.
Although I play fsx they seem to think that p3d utilises the extra cores better so again it makes it a tough choice as I'd like to give p3d a bash in the future.
Hmm I think il stick with the 6700 for now as most of my games are simulation games and these seem to run better on single cores.
As long as I can still do my video editing on the 6700 il be happy.

Well seems my daughter isn't having the pc now so it looks like il just upgrade the motherboard, processor and ram.
Ideally need a new monitor but that can wait for now. Seen some good bundles on amazon.
Is the asus z170 motherboard the one to have?
