Can you backflip? Well a robot can now!

That is incredible - Boston Dynamics looks like a cool company to work for :D

Unless that's just a human in a really elaborate robot costume... :p

You can see some of how their tech works in this talk. Specifically how it sees its world and autonomously finds its way once they relinquish manual control.

Nothing really new concept wise. But the evolution in size, weight and packaging has come a fair way.

Awesome.
Doing a back flip was always on my bucket list (in fact any kind of tumbling) but now I'm on the waiting list for two new knees I've got no chance.

whilst it's impressive that they've got it to do that with such natural looking movement, it just goes to show how impressive the human brain is that it can do that kind of thing whilst barely even thinking about it (at least assuming the person is in good enough physical shape to jump around like that)

How is this amazing? I had a toy dog that could backflip in 1990....
Exactly. Just another completely pointless thing to waste even more energy and earth resources on. Its just a life long fad trying to make a human-robot hybrid.

Has anyone seen the scam fake gift card comments they're posting. Lol gotta pay back their student loans somehow.

Welp, we are totally screwed now.

Time to start building time machines. Does anyone have Sarah Connor's address?

Quite incredible on the one at the end where it put a foot backwards to steady itself. Really impressive.

This!

The dexterity in its movement is incredible. When I saw that I just thought it was almost perfect human type moment.

Jesus that is phenomenal to watch....

Some people probably look at it like oh cool yeah whatevs... but as a technology junkie the pace that robotics has improved is utterly staggering.....

I'm blown away.

I take it it's fiitted with lots of laser sensors that build a topography map of the area and then it proceeds from there, John Carmack would love this.
