Can you fly, Bobby?

Terrible :(

As for the age, I was 26 when I got my Impreza, I didn't end up dead. It was the first performance car I owned too. It's not a given that anyone under the age of 30 is going to kill themselves in a powerfull car.

Agreed

not ALL young drivers are bad which you are suggesting here.

Speed alone does not kill, being a tit at speed does.

He's not saying that, he's saying a far greater proportion of us younger guys drive like idiots and lack experience.

You guys might want to scream and pretend it isn't true, but it is. The younger you are, the less experience you are, and combined this with an overinflated sense of your own ability (We see that lots on this very forum) and you have a recipee for disaster.

You know its true becuase if it wasn't we'd not all be paying 4 figure insurance premiums for decent cars whilst the older guys pay 400 quid.

AHEM!

Im 29

I had a Impreza WRX when i was 24, Type-R at 26, Elise at 27 and all accident free

Well maybe not the elise :D but no fault of my own

Anyone can crash at any age, in any car, it's not a bad idea getting an Impreza at 23, it's a pretty damn safe car to drive and will flatter many drivers.

I can't help thinking a VW Golf 1.6 is an even more pretty damn safe car to drive :p

Nope, 4WD, loads of electronic aids and pretty strong brakes make the Impreza as safe as houses. It's only when the owner gets carried away is there a problem. If you can lose control of an Impreza, you'd have easily totalled a Golf.

So the small matter of the fact that the car is ridiculously powerful and can be doing utterly ridiculous speeds in a matter of seconds doesn't factor?

Can you please report your findings to my insurance company as I'd love to be able to insure an Impreza for the same or less than a Golf 1.6 if, as you say, the chances of me stacking it are so much lower.

Thanks.

LOL. No, once you have driven fast cars for a bit you'll find you treat them just like any other.

Thats reassuring, I was giving myself a month before I got a driving ban when I changed cars :p

Fox.
If you really wanted to, you could drive a golf fast it will just take longer to get to the high speed.
If you had the scoob at the same speed and you take a bend in both cars you will find that the scoob is as stable as a mountain goat compared to the golf and you will have more chance of getting around the corner.
The moral to this story is all cars can be driven fast but some cars handle better then others and are safer.
It could be all the imported scoobs that are effecting the insurance price for them over there
