Evening all just curious to know if its possible to monitor CPU temps while gaming, i have my MSI afterburner showing me my GPU temp which is always quite handy. I was just playing GTA and my machine restarted never done that before ever even tho my PII 955 C2 is clocked at 3.8ghz its always been as stable as a rock. Im guessing it could be down to the fact my room is very warm now with it being summer, normally my room is like a freezer and it idles at 30c but now idileing at 40c. I have core temp and HW monitor installed but cant see an option to have them viewed in game

any ideas?

Many Thanks

Not sure if coretemp/hwmonitor can be used to display on screen like afterburner. I know you can log temps to file with coretemp, another way ive used with coretemp is to have cpu temp displayed on the lcd screen of a logitech g15 keyboard.

You can configure MSI on screen display server which installs with Afterburner to show stuff like GPU temp, FPS, fan speed and so on on screen while gaming.

Could always join the second screen club. :P

When checking stuff, I have HWMonitor, CPU-Z, GPU-Z, Systemfan and Task Manager open.

thanks guys, muel do you use both screens when gaming or just one? i have considered getting another 20" samsung monitor but was not to sure how to setup dual monitors would you be able to give me some advice?

thanks a mill

Just the one, I can't use both as they're different resolutions.

Dual screen setups don't work too well IMO, because you have a bezel in the middle. Single or Triple is the way to go, but they've got to be matching resolutions for it to work.

For best results, have 3 identical monitors, so the color/brightness/contrast can be copied across more easily, and the panels will all be exactly the same size and height.

I manage alright with my 28" on it's own. The real advantages of 3 monitors come when playing fast paced shooters or racing games IMO. I play FPSs pretty slowly really, I only really play Crysis and I tend to recon the whole area, tag all the enemies so I know where they are and then decide what order to pick them off in. :p

thanks for that muel. if i was to get myself another monitor is it as simple as just connecting it up to the 2nd dvi port on my 5850? dont think i will use it for gaming but more for just viewing. i was looking into a dual monitor gaming setup but i only have a single 5850 and i imagine a cross fire setup would be better for it to work. my monitor is only 20" as well with a max res of 1600x900 so dont think i would really benefit from cross fire would i. This would mean a new board and ram as well as i only have 1 pcie 16x and an am2+ board with ddr2 ram :(
