Can you remember what your first bit of 'Tech' was?

In my case it was a 6 transistor radio which I got in the late 60's if memory serves and this was fantastic. Suddenly music was potable albeit a bit crackly. But I loved it. Something like this.

Next was the Kodak 110 camera which is just a tad different to my modern DSLR with it's interchangeable lenses. Cost an arm and a leg to get the poor snaps developed but it was the overall portability and simplicity that made this so good at the time.

Was that the one that had a slider to change the lens between normal and... panoramic? (Might have been macro...)

If so, I had one of those, but it had a weird thing where if you changed the lens back and forth quickly, it would trigger the flash - had great fun blinding my friends with it :p (I was about 12 at the time...)

First bit of tech I can remember having?

Probably this bad boy:

The above two were presents, but I bought this myself, the Sharp RP-114 Vertical Turntable. Loved it.

Had a small hand held version with a dial for the bat at the bottom of a tiny grey and black lcd screen.[/QUOTE]
Got one of those in my attic, picked up at a car boot sale. Not actually tried it out though.

For the family it was a pong console in the mid to late 70s. For me personally it was a Sony Walkman when they first came out which that font of accurate knowledge Wikipedia says was 1979.

I remember getting our first colour tv. I also remember getting our first tv with a remote control and my friends were jealous :D

The original NES, think it was passed down. I loved it! I'm a 90's kid mind, I only know things which occurred in the 90's onwards.

A quite large portable transistor radio which had short wave and that was followed by a Philips reel to reel tape recorder. The radio cemented my life long interest in radio communications. My first proper tech 'build kit' was a hybrid one valve/transistor short wave radio.

Commodore 64, Some games took so long to load that they had a built in game of space invaders for you to play while you waited.

It was the Mastertronic games. Invade-a-load, it was called. I had loads of those (since they were a budget games studio, and I was poor :) )

Interestingly, the idea has since been patented by Namco so that they, and only they, can include a loading game. Surprised that was allowed to be patented, really.
