Yeah, like I'm going to download and run some random *.exe
My old PC with a R9 390 + i7 4770K could run 99% of games on 'minimum', so it's useful to compare, and maybe as a tool to see how long you will be able to run the latest games without issues.
steam gathers all your system data, it knows what games you play and probably at what settings and what your average fps is etc.Yeah, minimum system requirements are only meant as a rough guideline, not as pass/fail. Things like dx 11/dx12 or pixel shader requirements generally can't be ignored though.
I think the game developers just roughly estimate them generally. My experience with recommended requirements, is that they are generally a bit low, and don't necessarily mean a target of 60fps, devs are often more focused on console development where lower framerates are common. following the rec. specs might generally allow 60fps at 720p resolution...
In fact, they could add a new category for gameplay at 60fps 1080p.
Including DVD-ROM reqs seems like an anachronism though...
Isn't there a new feature to run Windows 10 in a virtual environment? If you are worried and still want to run the test with 0 risk, you could just install the exe within the virtual Win. 10, then run the test.
No, its an executable that doesnt run anythingDoes that .exe install something?
