Can you? should I defrag my RAID 0

Hi all

iv have my 2 x 1 TB western digital black performance edition hard drives in a RAID 0 format since I bought them about 2yrs ago and I would juts like to know

1. can I Defrag them just the same as defragging single drives without losing anything ( so isit safe to do so)

2. do RAID 0s need defragmenting? I'm guessing they just like any storage devices they do

3. Windows 10 defrag tools says the defrag on my RAID is unavailable, why is this? if I cannot defrag the RAID with windows should I download a tool that does or is their an option somewhere to enable RAID defrag within windows

It's perfectly fine to defrag a RAID array.

What mainboard are you running? Have you got Intel Rapid Storage Monitor installed?

Unsure why you're unable to defrag on Windows 10, I've no issues here running it with my RAID 1 pack.

To be fair unless you've messed with any settings it should automatically defrag your drives for you on a weekly basis.

Yes when I open the windows 10 defrag tool, and I select my raid it says unavilable
 
I wonder if the windows assessment tool is seeing your drive pack as a SSD due to the speed?

Have you upgraded to Windows 10 or is it a fresh install?

Try re-running winsat (windows assessment tool)

Open an admin command prompt and type winsat formal -restart
