You could just add your notes to the presentation itself and set the laptop up so you can see them at the same time as your slides - then you still have the notes and don't need to worry about them?
Don't have PowerPoint notes instead of the cards - if the laptop or projector or whatever breaks and you can still give a talk without the slides you'll come across a lot stronger than someone who can't continue.
