Canadian Geese-are they freindly and has anybody else had them hanging around near where they live?

100s die every year from migration in Sweden, especially Canadian geese.

They walk around in their big fluffy jackets honking at people for money.

Very dangerous beasts.

They are super friendly.
I had one on my lap a couple of years ago! Used to see the same goose at the park that year.

And FYI. It is Canada geese not Canadian geese as a plural.

I got bitten by one was a kid, it traumatised me. But unlike Linus Torvalds I didn't go on to build a revolutionary world-beating operating system kernel.

I nearly got taken out by a flying goose the other day

12 of then went over ...only 3 returned after the farmer filled em with lead , these 3 were gonna land on the river where I was fishing but at the last second musta seen me , 2 broke away whilst the 3rd coming striaght at me went straight into a tree done a couple of cartwheels then flopped 15ft in front of me in the river :s

There are a few in the local park. They seem pretty tame and friendly - come right up to you. I think people feed them a lot as they are quite fat.

On a completely unrelated note, it's Christmas in a few weeks and I've heard reports of a potential turkey shortage.

Bird flu is bad this year. May be related.
I've had my hens in thier coop a couple of months now to stop them from potentially catching it

Yeah, we don't feed them any more because of this - signs round all the local lakes as well. Probably just as well your hens are inside, as there's a housing order in place in England now (if your location is accurate then I assume it doesn't apply to you, but probably still a good idea).

Yeah I've seen dead mallards in the reens around here so mine are in. We get feral pigeons etc in garden too so not taking chances.

And yeah I don't feed them anymore unfortunately. Certainly don't want to carry it home!

Actually an article about egg rationing at the moment directly due to bird flu. As of we didn't have enough issues.

Are they friendly? NO absolutely not.

Canadian's (as people) are as polite and friendly as they are, because they channel all their hate and rage into the geese then send them off to other countries :D :D

Yeah, they are migratory birds.
See them all the time on the canal on my bike.

They can get quite agressive in nesting season, but they generaly just hiss at you, and flap thier wings as a warning.

If you don't react to them and dont't bother them, and carry on your way, they won't attack you, lol!

Just leave them be, and carry on.
How the hell do you get a canal to stay on your bike ??
