Canadian Grand Prix 2012, Montréal - Race 7/20

I always thought Kubica's crash at Canada was one of the worst at the circuit.

I must admit that I was watching the race live at the time and I was sure it was going to end up as a fatal crash. Fortunately he was ok.

I thought the same...for me it was the only time watching a race live on TV when I saw a crash and my first thoughts were 'that guy is dead', pretty strange and horrible feeling :(

I was too young to see Sennas crash and the other incidents that year, and the incidents where marshalls were killed in the years since did not appear so serious at the time.

I've had that thought a few times. I saw Senna at Imola live and knew instantly that he could not of survived that. I thought the same thing about Barrichello flying into a barrier sideways at some stupid speed, and was amazed that he walked away virtually unscathed. More recently in Monaco, when Mark Webber went airbourne and flipped, I first thought, **** ! He's in trouble. I was relieved to find out immediately that he was fine. Oh, and Massa being hit by Barrichello's suspension spring looked pretty bad too, I wasn't sure if he was ok for a while.

Senna's was fairly innocuous. Many drivers have hit that wall far worse, and the worst injuries were a few burns and bruises. It was only afterwards, the weekend we'd had, those helicopter shots and the length of time without significant movement where it started to worry me... still, I was comforted by the slight movement of his head when viewing from above... of course, in hindsight, that really wasn't a good sign at all, but I was young and naive. As it transpired, it was completely unsurvivable, but only as a result of the freak of that wheel coming back at him. :(

I knew Ratzenberger was dead. That was plain to see from the very start - that accident was very much akin to Kubica's crash, in the angle he went into the wall. In highsight, perhaps it was Ratzenberger's crash more than any other that Kubica owes his life to.

I thought Burti was dead after his horror crash at Spa (for those who haven't seen it, see below. Very much like Kovalainen's crash at Barcelona, only faster).

Ralf's crash at Indy had me worried sick. No movement, head to the side, visor lifted up - it really didn't look good... though it didn't look much of a smash in the replays. Clearly the rear impact structure was pretty much rock solid, something that broke the backs of many IRL drivers in that period.

Of course Massa's crash, though I was heartened by Eddie Jordan's comments soon afterwards that he was fine. Of course, Eddie knew **** all, and that became worryingly clear over the next few hours.

I was convinced Hamilton was knocked out at Spa last year, but I wasn't especially concerned for him.

Maybe a don should change the thread title to "F1 crashes videos"

:D

Can't wait for Canada, my favourite race of the season, shame Italy v Spain is on at the same time :D

Weather Update

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2012/06/07/wet-start-canadian-gp-weekend-dry-race-expected/

A low-pressure weather system lying to the south-east of Montreal is producing cool conditions in the area at the moment. Thunderstorms are expected on Friday afternoon which could coincide with the second practice session at 2pm.

Lighter rain is forecast on Saturday, which could make for an interesting qualifying session. But conditions for the race are expected to be much better.

Expect to see more sunshine and higher temperatures on Sunday, rising from around 20 to 25C.

You'll be lucky now that the Euros have started.

Try checking here though: http://www.f1inpubs.co.uk/

Damn football, was what I was thinking, might try my grandparents sky package with sky go,

Does anyone know if you can use your own name for a sky ID if linking to another person account? I guess so as you could live in the same house

Love this track, the best F1 track I've ever driven round. Also the only one as well :D

As soon as my son is old enough to have F1 forced upon him, I will go back again :)

I'm going for a Schumacher win, providing he doesn't have a penalty for something?
