Cannot delete partition

Hi all,
I installed a new hard drive yesterday and made the mistake of using Partition Magic 8.0 to create two partitions on it. For various reasons I then tried to delete the partitions. I was able to delete the primary partition without any issue but PM crashed before it deleted the extended/logical partition. Every time I try to get it to do anything with that partition it now crashes.
I then tried FDISK but hit an “error loop”. I cannot delete the extended partition because there are logical partitions within it. I cannot delete the logical partition because apparently there aren’t any. I cannot create (then delete) a logical partition because all the extended partition is taken up by a logical partition. Arrgghhh!

Any helps folks?

download parted magic live boot cd, burn the iso to disc using imgburn, then boot from that to work on the HD :)

Thanks for the reply Bledd. As it turns out I found out that PM8 couldn't handle the 950Gb partition I had as the extended drive. FDISK is also unable to cope but I installed Super FDISK and that sorted the problem in seconds. And its freeware too. Marvellous.

cool

i tend to only use parted magic now for changing partitions etc, it has a few tools on it, gparted being one of them
