Cannot sleep.. Any advise?

If I'm struggling to sleep, I'll just throw a TV show or film on on my laptop, something that I've seen many many times, so I don't actually focus on it. Usually fall asleep in no time, or make myself more tired than I want to be even if I'm not trying to sleep!
 
I have a problem with staying still and also struggle getting to sleep, I now have a routine of around 12-1:30 bed time weather i go to sleep straight away or lie awake for an hour depends, then im up at 7-8 depending on what time the kid wakes up!

I havent found anything to make me tired yet but a long warm bath sometimes helps.
 
I find sleep deprivation works pretty well for being able to get to sleep. Due to my complete lack of discipline when it comes to bedtime I rarely get in bed before midnight and get up for work at 6:30-7:00. I'm always so tired at night I go out like a light.

Lots of exercise doesn't always help, depends on the chemicals being released around your body at the time (like adrenaline).

For those saying, smoke this, or drink this - Not a good suggestion as you can become dependant.

Your best bet is having a warmish shower, dry off and get somewhere comfortable and if possible reasonably cool. Pick up a book ro read a couple of websites and just relax.
 
You need to have about half an hour of no computer or tv time really to relax, plus spend a bit of time learning to calm your heart rate when you are comfy in bed.

That or get a girlfriend, always tired after sex...
