Looking at buying this in jan, it will be my first SLR. have seen one for about £340.
1) Can I get it anywhere cheaper?
2) Is this a good camera for the price or is there one out there which is better for the same money, have read a few mags and it seems to get a good reputation.
3) Apart from the obvious memory card and carry case what else will I need to get me going, not looking at any new lenses for the moment.

Thanks in advance for any help

I'm hoping a little sale in jan will bring the price down and I was going to stick with the price i have, get jessops to match it and throw in the memory card and maybe carry case rather than try get them to reduce the price. a UV filter sounds a good idea though I can see what you mean about protecting the lens.

Cheers

You have? New?
I'd be interested to see someone push somewhere like Jessops down to anything even close to £340.

yeah, my mum found one online for £390 but cannon are doing £50 cashback on them. after all the comments I think I'm definitely going for the 450d then and will have a look at getting a filter and tripod to go with it. cheers for the help guys

damn, missed the boat, the camera has now gone back up to £384 after cashback, but yeah it was with the lens. from a well known camera company. although you can get them from a shady company for £369 but the company is american and they are trying 2 disguise themselves as uk, u get him with a 20% charge when it gets to the country and really bad reviews about service and returns. the company is called 'bitesize deals' I know they are a competitor technically but I'm badmouthing them so it should be ok
