Canon or Nikon?

They deliberately make poor cameras now, oh dear :D

How can you say they don't?
I know there needs to be market differentiation, but Canon are taking it a little too far relative to the competition imo.

5Dii (gimped AF)

60D (gimped features relative to 50D)

6D (it's practically a rebel but with a big sensor)

Nikon have some Gimped cameras also, Look at the D600, IF the AF wasn't so bad i would have gone for it and got shut of my D700, But the D800 36 mpix is pointless for what i shoot, I don't need that much details.

Quite simply because they don't, none of the cameras you mention are poor. If you don't understand how products are designed and specified for a target market then I understand your confusion. Different companies have different approaches to this, the Nikon approach is driven by wanting to be the market leader rather than stay in the second place they occupy. This is all good as it drives competition. Most people can make their buying decisions based on the wealth of information out there without resorting to rubbishing competing products based on hyperbole. I don't have any issues with people buying any manufacturers system, they are all viable and capable of delivering excellent results. I use Canon as it meets my specific needs better than any other manufacturer, if I had the cash value of all my kit I'd buy the same again (well maybe a 5D3 instead of the bodies in have). If I shot predominantly landscapes and printed big I'd have changed to the D800... but I don't.

I think 'poor' is relative and a matter of opinion, but I would use the term mediocre or 2nd rate.

I suspect Canon's disregard for competing products (when you consider price and spec's) may not be working out that well for them. It will be interesting to see if Nikon's DSLR sales are declining as well. It could be that the DSLR market is shrinking or it could be they are losing market share.
