Can't afford school meals for kids, but billions for homebuyers, sure!

RoboCod why is your default to insult when people have a difference of opinion than you?

I have two young kids and I do not support this latest craze. I come from a poor background, but my mother knew how to be thrifty and run a house with 4 boys on a real low income.

1. My partner would be better off on benefits than she would be working.
2. There are food banks etc for this type of thing.
3. Lots of local communities who offer free meals for those in need.
4. Money from benefits is plenty enough to feed your family.
5. I've seen my mum do it with me and my brothers

Well Salford has decided to go against the government and offer free school meals through holidays, I'm sure more will follow.

Indeed, there's mounting pressure and I believe they'll likely 180 on this. At least it will make this abomination of a thread redundant.

Lots of, not all.

It is, but kids still go hungry as parents don't feed their kids. Should we allow children to starve because of **** humans? No we shouldn't.

You are right though, but because that situation you grew up in worked doesn't mean it worked for everyone else. I also grew up in single parent, low income family. Surviving on pasta and tomatoes for weeks on ends at times. But thankfully neither parent smoked, was an aloholic, a junkie or cared more about themselves than their childrens well being. Until you understand these situations you can never relate. Now bringing in that a lot of these hard working individuals now may have lost their jobs/became ill due to covid, and barely surviving then it just adds on to how much a **** decision this is.

They have to, just out of playing the political game. Can't see how they thought this would go down well with the public.
I agree. They are so out of touch though so it's not surprising they've made the wrong decision, yet again. It would have been such an easy political win with the (non DM reading) public to do it in the first place.

Not even that expensive either. Baffling.

It's not because all that means is people die because they can afford it (see America for details).

And it doesn't end there tax revenue would become even less effective than it is now because bins would remain uncollected, roads would disintegrate and crime would rocket before our government stopped giving back handers to their bezzys.

Can you expand on what you mean by "see America for instance"?

Well you've kinda hit the nail on the head dude.

Should we not be investing into better children's social care so we can identify parents that don't feed their children? One could argue that by giving free meals to the kids will only encourage awful parents to be more awful.

How is your understanding any better than mine? Let's not go down that route its a poor RoboCod-like argument.

If they apply for all the benefits they are entitled too they should be able to feed their kids, may have to live a different lifestyle but should easily fed.

There are differences of opinion then there are simply idiots. An idiot will be labelled an idiot. If this upsets the idiot, they should consider acting less idiotic. And don't start preaching to me about adult discussion when the attitude from the outset is "sterilise, scroungers and scumbags" there isn't much adult discussion to be had with these idiots, this is clear when neither of them seem able to answer any sensible questions. Just point laugh and enjoy the rage they are clearly projecting. Keep that money coming boys.

You wouldn't do very well in a debate style forum, you're much more like Trump than you think haha!

I mean from your attempted passive aggressive approach i think its evident the rage is coming from one side of the coin and that is most certainly your side my friend.

I'm not 100% sure of the point your trying to make or indeed if you understood the point I was making in my original reply by from your own link it says "in the UK health care is universal whereas 28 million Americans are without healthcare cover".

The fact is, in an insurance based healthcare system which is what the person I replied to was advocating, many people can't afford it, which your own link confirms.

To add, why do you think the BBC facts counter the Gallup facts? They aren't even talking about the same thing.
