Can't decide on TV size - going mad!

Try a TV WITH speakers or at least a soundbar - the difference is phenomenal. You pay decent money for a TV then use their rubbish inbuilts? Yuk!

As for size, 65" is plenty big enough for that room - money you have saved, get some decent sound for the full immersive experience.

Hey, I did say above that we are getting a Sonos Arc soundbar. I don't have the space really or layout/suitable room for surround and don't really want that.

I won't be using the in built audio, all will go through the Sonos Arc

I've just gone from 5.1.2 to a Sonos Arc as my receiver (Denon AVR-X2300W) seem to develop a dodgy ARC connection and it was a chance for a change to simplify my setup and I am really impressed with it. I bought the Arc and Mini Sub for extra bass first just to see if I could cope without rear surrounds and whilst it was really good its lacking. Its own virtual surround is poor. Added two Sonos One SL speakers as rear surrounds and wow the difference is like night and day. Chucked a few films on to experience it and yes wow it did blow me away. The difference rears make is quite massive. They can be wired (ethernet) or wireless so you just need a position and a power socket. If you havent had rears before they you probably wont know the difference you will just be getting a good front firing sound system. Add the rears though and it is a whole new level. It is worth it.

My boy just now before school said to my wife the new sound system is great its like being there and he has never ever said anything about it before. I`m not an audiophile and I`m sure that such a person would be looking down at this setup with disdain but its either due to using a system from 2016 and then getting this to notice a big difference or it is truly a good step up than what I had before. I do think Sonos charge a premium and think they want to be the Apple of sound systems though. They are expensive. I got the rears for £159 each their rrp is £175. You could go for ikea sonos symfonisk speakers as IKEA have a licence to sell compatible speakers for the Sonos products and they sell rears for £99 (I have seen them cheaper).

I heard a few soundbars in richer sounds . Not bad but absolutely not even close to my system. And I'd certainly be happy with Q acoustics qtv2 I've used to extended time in a bedroom or second system for consoles etc. Still not even close to the main system

Not fair comparing the two of course.

Sonos wouldn't be my choice of audio systems, it's locked in eco system, plus still with the stupid small library system.

£400 for surrounds ? And have to faff around with power cables or charging it, and after five years those batteries will be dead.

If I could have fit a 77 in I may have, but we couldn't so went 65. I believe a 65 is worth the price premium over a 55 which at the time was about £1000 vs £1500. But a 65 vs 77 is £1700 vs £3000 now? Wow. I'm not sure that's worth it in all honesty. 3k is too much for me. Slight bit of justification for the 65 is that we all still consume a lot of 1080p content these days don't we, so the bigger we go is going to show that up slightly more with close viewing distances.

I understand what you mean I tried a few for my Conservatory TV and they were awful, from the cheap £99 ones to Samsung £299 and they were terrible. I dont think you can rightly compare a soundbar to a AV receiver system its not even the same.

I dont use it to play music just TV. I thought long and hard but the comments online from reviews swayed it. Dont care its locked in I fully understood that before buying it plus this wont be changed for years it wont be upgraded.

yeah faff around ? Plug power supply in socket and other end in speaker. Lots of faffing about dont know why I bothered had to sit down and take a rest afterwards. What a faff. ;)
