It might be Windows, my dad has XP, google links don't work on his PC. on other systems in the house, everything is fine & in Linux he has no prob.

Well my woes continue, i reinstalled windows with no good coming of it.

BT are now sending yet another engineer out on Monday.

You could try to upgrade your router firmware. But I'd only advise this if you can also find your existing firmware, that way you can roll it back if the firmware update either does nothing or makes things worse.

Let us know if you find a solution.

Finally after 2 weeks, i have been told by the engineer yesterday that it is a system fault, with no ETA for a fix.

This is probably my final straw with BT to be honest.

I see somebody suggesting you try new DNS servers, have you? It is what I would try, doesnt look like you gave it a go

How do i go about trying a new DNS server, in the simplest of terms please.

Bear in mind BT have now admited there is a problem, but im up for trying anything.

Similar problem hope you don't mind me posting here, seemed pointless starting a new thread.

A few days ago I had limited to no connectivity with WiFi from my PC. WiFi from my PS3 worked. I was connecting through powerline networking but I don't like it and wanted wirelss back. After a day or two of pondering I just formatted (Windows XP).

That fixed the problem, it's been a few days now and tonight i couldn't display webpages/use steam or anything internet related. WiFi was showing as connected and I could contact my router etc over WiFi, WiFi on my ps3 works and using powerline networking works.

So it's just wireless not displaying things I guess and I'm not sure why, it just suddenly stopped working an hour ago.

Mine wont work with a cable/power line adaptor/wireless dongle.

Although saying that as you can see as i am here, it is displaying at the moment, but will soon stop again.

Iv now been told by BT that it is a "d slap" problem at my exchange, what on earth is a d slap problem?

More likely a DSLAM. Not that any issue with the hardware at the exchange would break HTTP in particular - they're feeding you a line...

Having looked at google, you might be right there :)

You got the same problem as me, Im with BT and have been for years, but they recently upgraded my exchange to ADSL 2 and its been problems every since.

Every day I keep getting the cannot display webpage and its driving me nuts. I work from home, so need internet, and I've been on the phone to BT India bout 50 times to get this fix, I HATE BT with a passion at the moment, and want to move elsewhere once I figure out how to leave the contract.

I just hang up as soon as i get an Indian, i dont actually give a toss where they are from, but i'l be ****ed if im repeating myself to someone who cant speak english for the 100th time.

Anyway aparently it is a known fault and they are working on it, nearly 4 weeks for me now, im seriously thinking about Virgin instead, im absolutely sick of BT.

Did they say its a known problem in general (i.e. all areas) or a known problem on your exchange?

Just my exchange so the engineer told me when he came out the other day, i was also back on the phone to them again just now and they say it is still on going.

Absolute rubbish service.

Yeah its a prob with my exchange too. I just cancelled my BT broadband this morning, as I say, I work from home, and internet is VERY important, so I need to get rid ASAP.

I've ordered Virgin 20mb Fibre optic now, that will do me... annoyingly though, they arent coming to fit the Virgin broadband until Thurs 29th April, and my BT ends on the 30th... cutting it fine. So got another 2 weeks of this rubbish service.
