Hi for some reason my Gigabyte 7970 stock 1000/1375 won't Overclock or Underclock any more:(
I thought it might be Afterburner or GPU drivers but no, even though Afterburner and or CCC accepts my Overclocks when i monitor it only displays my stock clocks.
I have tried different versions of AB and Drivers but to no avail, i use to run 1150/1650 at 1174mv no problem, i dont get any artifacts or problems in games.
I can't work it out any help please:confused:

Has your bios changed, perhaps an automatic update without your knowledge.:)

Funny just as i wrote the post i thought of switching to the other bios and at the moment "touch wood" its ok but sometimes the other one was.
But how could my original bios change i mean i haven't done anything to it?
If it this bios runs fine then i will copy to the my other bios strange to say the least.
Thanks

Certainly not for the Gigabyte WF3 7950 BIOS FLASHING but it may be possible with other utilities, I honestly dont know.:)

Edit: Just noticed the OP has a Gigabyte 7970 so an auto bios flash should not be possible. Borley I take it you havn't touched the bios at all, strange one that, what bios is your 7970 on?

Has the BIOS become corrupt? It may still load in but the cose needed for the settings has become corrupted.

Reflash the original BIOS is my thoughts.

No i havent touckhed the bios and now the other one does it i can apply the clocks all day long with AB or CCC but its only displaying stock clocks on Afterburner overlay and GPU-z, i cant even under clock:confused:
very strange anyone heard of this issue, i mean i dont see problems in games.
I may try a windows reinstall maybe some king of magic happening i don't know of.
If i cant overclock or underclock do you think RMA as these were advertised as overclockers, the fact i cant underclock is very strange.
I will have look see what i can do.
Thanks

Thought the 7970's were voltage locked though which kinda supports what you are saying. Sorry I'm getting mixed up between voltage and overclocking. Try not to get old like me. LOL.:(:D

No i have the earlier version its not voltage locked also i had it running at 1150/1650 far a while fine.
Plus that wouldnt explain underclocking.
ANway tried taking out reseating and coonecting cables again just to see but no luck probaly do a windows reinstal but can't see that helping.

It's the next step following voltage locking, just in case any naughty users think they are allowed to modify cards they've bought :D:D

Also an auto bios update would be silly as there would be many bricked cards as people wouldnt be warned not to turn of there pc etc.

Stop! look at reflashing the BIOS before doing such drastic measures. As I said, it could just be the code is corrupt for the settings.

Hi Gregster but both bios do the same so how could they both corrupt?
Also means i don't have an original bios to use.

Forgot what you need to update your rom, do i need to change the rom name on that file to Tahati.rom as the one i download has a loong name?
also what program do i use to update been a long time haha

I know what you mean and I would also think that the dual BIOS would allow some over/under clocking on either. It was a chance that both had corrupted but a slim one. Sorry Borley, this was the only idea I could come up with.
