Does anyone get this problem....

Most days I get to work, park up and I'll be buggered if I can actually remember the drive in to work. It's a complete blank.

Now I may have an excuse as I drive in 8 miles, which takes about 45 mins and I've done the same trip into and out of Birmingham for the last 13 years now, it's mind numbing. Boring, and then some.

Obviously mentally I've totally switched off, maybe thinking about the work I have to do when I get to the office, or listening to the radio or cd etc. Am I still paying attention to the roads if I can't actually remember the drive in?

If you haven't had a crash then your probably paying enough attention :p

Im sure you are paying attention but as its pretty unimportant you dont want or need to remember it.

If you saw a car crash and flip over and come flying towards you I bet you would remember.

Ive had that before.

Its been years since i last had it... it was mainly when i travelled south lots,.

10 minutes would suddenly pass and i couldnt for the life of me remember driving it... passing places etc. Not sleeping as far as im aware.

I sometimes switch off when im driving a route im used to, mainly when im coming home, after 10 mins or so of driving i dont remember anything that happened! I also hate it when your not thinking of where your supposed to be going and end up going home when your meant to be going to someone elses house  :p

happens all the time, ive got a 16 mile drive on a boring a-road which is always crawling with tractors, hgv's so i just plod @ about 65, at least once a week i get to work/home sometimes both legs and for the life of me i cannot remember the drive, almost like it hasnt happened.

I get this daily, especially on the 'Acle Straight' a 7.2 mile stretch with a single bend about 1/3 of the way along. Tend to poodle along at 40 in traffic on a good day. Most of the time I can't remember the bend :o

Are you guys getting enough sleep?!

Its only ever happened to me once. I worked 20 hour days 3 days in a row. By the third day my system was running on pure caffeine. I drove to a job and couldnt remember getting there - the memory was totally blanl. I also started to lose the power of cohesive speach (I sounded a bit like I was drunk the mrs told me).

Apart from that time I cant say I ever get to work and cant remember the journey/junctions etc.

Happens in everything in your life, once it is familiar your brain will see it as a task that you do subconsciously, just like shopping and you pick up a tin of beans automatically and everything else you buy regularly, but you will look at products you dont buy as you need to make a decision consciously about it.
