To be fair that gif is starting to look like he didn't go for the ball, or cared what he kicked , still, barely anything worth crying over.

Neither do I. I don't condone anyone mucking about and slowing a game down, but I don't expect players to start throwing the toys out and kicking ball boys etc.

I suggest you read the rule book. It quite clearly is a red card offence. Violence against an official or spectator.
