Captain America: Brave New World

Falcon was always a bore, he's literally just a guy in a suit cosplaying CA, the MCU has been a snoozefest for 5 years (holy **** 5 years) and his TV show sucked.

10/10

Mackie sucks as an actor and Indiana said it exactly right, "You're not Steve Rogers".

Exactly what I was thinking. As an actor I don't find he can carry a movie well as the lead and he ok as a supporting actor.

If they are going to shoe horn him in as CA (Falcon did become the Cap in the comics for a short stint) at least give him some powers to make it somewhat believable that he up for the job otherwise as some already pointed out he just a regular Joe in a Wing suit.

I don't think that he sucks as an actor, but I agree thats he's definitely better as a "supporting role" type actor but he just seems to be missing the little bit extra to be Lead.

However, that "You're not Steve Rogers" as a comment is a really good double edged sword, in that yes, he's not a super-human with a hard set of unbreakable morals, but he's also not constrained by that hard morality of Rogers and Marvel/Disney might take a risk and push the character into semi "anti-Hero" territory by making him more like Romanov/Hawkeye/Winter Soldier as someone who has a more morally grey lean towards things - something Marvel/Disney seem to want to push hard nowadays (no good or bad anymore, just different).

I watched the TV show so I understand his newly acquired but much practised shield ability but, as has been mentioned a lot in here already, Falcon is "just" a human in an advanced Wingsuit, and unlike Iron Man, the wingsuit doesn't enhance his strength or add amour/protection from damage etc so it'll be interesting to see how they deal with both those issues i.e just a human AND not Steve.

With all the news about reshoots etc, the massive ballooned budget etc, I can't help but think that has "yet another poorly written & 'bad CGI' filled flop" written all over it.

He killed Altered Carbon - i loved that show :(

And to me Cap'n America is super strength and speed etc, as you say, now he's just a human in a wing suit and spandex costume :(

He didn't kill Altered Carbon at all, bad writing killed that show. I think he's very good in certain types of scene (particularly the slower scenes like when he was talking about soldier PTSD in Winter Soldier and he had a scene where he talked with the main baddy in the TV show that was really good. We'll have to see how he does as a lead because up until now he's either been a support or a co-lead.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but Mackie sucks and imo single handedly pulled down his pants and pooped all over altered carbon.

There's a thread dedicated to similar thoughts here too.

However, as you say, I did rate him as a foil to Steve Rogers - but the second he picked up the shield, it was a 'oh crap, well that's Captain America over then' moment.

As a member of team Captain America (over Iron Man) films - I suspect I will be forced to revoke my membership. RIP.

Captain America is crap, don’t matter who plays him. He used to proper annoy my happiness in the films though that might be down to me not liking Chris Evans. For some reason he just boils my pee I’m pretty much everything I’ve seen him in.

So (in universe, I'm not interested in the greater argument here by people who can't understand the concept of legacy mantles) they're still doing the "you're not Steve Rodgers" thing even though there was a whole show addressing this, I can't buy that Ford is even trying to be the same character as Hurt.

Yeah, I can't get passed that they signed off on just a regular guy taking over the mantle from someone who was an actual super-solider with massively enhanced physical abilities, who came from world world II to present day via a cryogenic freezing process.

Might as well put Happy in a training programme for a year and given him the shield and some Stark winged suit.
