Car allowance...

I can get £350 a month, but thats insurance paid, plus i can have a fuel allowance ontop of that.

Im just curious as to amounts...16k seems v.v.v.v excessive - Ive had 2 calls today - one for 4200 and one for 4500 which is similar to Tinders although i did not enquire about the fuel situation :)

Um i think i do mate.

People who travel the country by car, need quite abit of cash, to maintain the car.

He hasn't got a clue, he's posting random numbers and telling us all about daddies big allowance.

Wait for somebody like Blueboy or merlin who actually know what they are talking about, they'll give you some decent advice :)

Luke - £16k per year car allowance, what? My dad doesnt get anything like that and he's a director for TFE Oil uk

I know my company offer £3000+a pretty low fuel rate

£4500 is a good rate, i wouldnt complain about it certainly :)

Hmmm I think it may give me the urge to go sign a lease agreement which I dont think would be to clever?! Or would it?!

Can get a 120D Sport for 330ish...

God all so confusing...

Well you shouldnt really compare then. My dad is financial director at head office in uxbridge of a multinational company.

I wouldnt lie, what would i have to gain?

Why do we care about this? The guy wants practical advice about opting out of his company car scheme and taking an allowance, he probably doesn't give a stuff what your Dad does!

I was refering to Jez post. Ive already given my advice, and im sure he does not care, but the post was not towards what he had posted.

You posted that £16,000 was a reasonable car allowance, that is just plain ridiculous. I know from my personal experience of car allowances, and experince on what my dad gets in an almost top position for a multi billion pound oil company that £16k per year car allowance is faaar from the norm and your dad is either doing very very well for himself, or you have your figures wrong.

You can contract hire a bentley continental GT for less than your dad's allowance :/

16k a year!

Most people go with 3 year leases on their company car schemes....16k a year would equal 48k for the 3 year period!
Some small proifitable businesses would pay that to make their employees look good. But for the rest of the world.....

Is it not quite likely Luke15's Father gets 16k over 3 years? or maybe even 4yrs?
that would make a lot more sense.

edit:To contribute something useful (apologies to the OP for wandering thread!)
The company I work for used to have an 'Essential user' allowance, which allowed for up to £2000 for the use of a private vehicle for business use. That has now been abolished, and its pretty much Lease cars only. You can use a private vehicle but not too often, as they dont like it!
