Car defrosting on driveway, lesson learned

Shouldn't leave cars warming up on the drive, it's terrible for the engine, and if you have a diesel it's especially harsh on the cat and particle filters which aren't cheap to replace.

Got to laugh a little. It would have had to sit there for at least 10mins to get a decent amount of heat into it. If she did that on a regular basis I'm not surprised it went missing

There is no way I'd be telling the insurance company I left it running.

"The keys were hung up in doors, I heard someone in the house and the next thing I knew my car was being driven away... Honest."

On the walk home the other night I walked passed a Porsche Carrera GT parked on the side of the road outside some house with keys in, engine on but not a soul in sight. The door of the house it parked outside was shut also.

That wouldn't stay stationary long in most places lol

Maybe not, but I'm pretty sure it would be easy enough to find if it was stolen. The owner would be stupid not to have a tracker fitted to it

I'm guilty of this, living in a cul-de-sac gives you a false sense of security sometimes, when in fact you're probably just at as much risk as a main road.

Having a tracker fitted isn't enough of a safety feature of leaving it totally unattended with keys in on the side of the road.

Damn, that really sucks :(. However I can't help feeling that leaving the car unlocked and running isn't the smartest thing in the world to do. Lesson learned now I suppose though.

Now I can see why anyone would be tempted here.. Even to drive it up and down the street, idiots that do that really or people to careless with their money.

What's wrong with de-icing the windscreen and putting the front windows down and just driving as usual?

I've never even heard of anyone stupid enough to leave the car running on the drive whilst unattended. That's just asking for trouble.

Could we see the keys to verify this please?

or

It's been recovered and key were left in the ignition, how do you explain this?

If someone stole the keys from the house, how could they ask for the keys to verify. Also, how would they know whether the keys were stolen or left in the ignition?
